Busted Crane 144832 dual springs
My motor developed a tick and started missing at 6K rpms. I thought maybe a collapsed lifter but when I started to tear the motor apart, I didn't have to go too far. I found 3 busted inner springs and 1 busted outer spring (3 pieces) which most likely was the ticking sound. I have yet to remove the springs but what do you think my chances of having a bent valve are? Has anyone else broke these? They had about 9K hard miles on them.

To check for bent valves, replace the bad springs and do a compression check.
Your valves are probably OK. I recently broke a Manley single coil spring and piston was hitting intake valve loudly for about a half mile before cutting motor off, the intake valve was only slightly bent when head was pulled and checked. Valve seat was OK but I replaced bent valve.
