What all has to be done to the T-56 to handle over 800rwhp and torque. My car will see more street than strip. Let me know, please....

wrong spot for this one! best bet is to call t56rebuilds and they can tell you everything you need to know and do the work as well.

Actually I was hoping some of the guys running a turbo/6-speed combo would chime in and give me some insight..

Call t56rebuilds. They're awesome. But the rebuild will cost you a pretty penny. Unless you don't do the 5-6 cluster.

Try G-force as well. They do alot of the Viper tranmissions that are behind the 1500+hp monsters.

GForce internals are the best out there yet very expensive. I do not know the exact "hp rating" of their transmission but as stated above, they handle some good power. If I had the money- I would be calling GForce.

Good luck

Good point, because you're not alone and I've heard of alot of stock T-56's running ~750 rwhp... If you're gonna run street tires, is there really a need? On the track with slicks then I'd totally understand. I would like to know too, where the line is drawn.

Most of the rebuilds Ive seen advertised dont involve different gears, just shift related parts.

So aside from some form of cryo treatment on the gears that some offer, why would any of them be stronger than a stock T56 ??

Does this cryo treatment actually make much difference ??

I know when my time comes, I'll probably be going g-force.

Both Danimal and I stripped the teeth off the input/countershaft gears while rolling into the gas in 3rd gear. This was on the street on radials.

No problems to date with the G-force transmissions, and fwiw the stock transmissions were holding up until we eclipsed 800rwtq.

Well I have already the steel 3-4 shift fork and a synchro rebuild kit form D@D performance.

I looked on Gforce's web site and really don't have any idea on what all I really need. I mean is the triple cone conversion a "must have" or what. I'll have to call Gforce and see what they say I guess.

What all does your T-56 have??
