Default ***FIXED***Security Problem, Car won't Start!

Ok i went out to my car today and started it and it started fine. Went down the block and noticed the security light flashing so i pulled over to shut it off and figured the key may have been off a little. Went to start it and NOTHING. It doesn't crank or anything. Just sits there and fuel pump primes and all but nothing. What's wrong with the damn thing? A fuse maybe. THanks guys. It's my daily driver and i need it fixed~Cole~

It is a security system called VATS. I dont know much about it but do a search and you can find how to bypass the system. It happens quite often.

Well i looked into my manual to see what i should be looking for. I noticed that when i get in the security light is FLASHING not just staying on. In the manual it says it's the key is faulty. I'm gonna look more at it in the morning when it's light out to see what i can figure out.

well update. I looked at the fuses and all the basic stuff and nothing is out of the ordinary. Took the key up to a local dealership that my dad happens to work for and one of the techs said he is sure it's the tumbler. He had a newer Camaro SS in there for the same thing and the same symptoms. Changed the tumbler and keys and all was good. He priced a tumbler and new key for $90 and another $25 if i want him to put them in for me on the side. What is your guys' input? He couldn't look at the car because it's not there and i can't get it up there today 'cause it's raining. but he is almost positive that's what it is. ~Cole~

The price sounds exactly right on, I had an older Lumina 96 that had Vats and it did the exact same thing. I replaced the tumbler and got 2 new keys,

VATS = PITA

Don't ever put the wrong key in the ignition. That is a good way to lock it out.
