This is for you 300bhp/ton!

The mr2 was faster than a supra stock, sti stock, rx7 and different version evo's. There's your 13.5 at 105mph

Either that or some potholes in the road. At about the 1/8 the cars front end was bouncing..

I posted these vids becuase knowone thinks the mr2 was fast. The fastest time posted on a stock jdm mr2 is a 13.3 at 106. This was done with the 245hp version, which you can see is underrated. I have some more vids, but I cant seem to locate them.

I only posted it becuase 300bhp/ton said mr2's dont run 13 mid to low 13's stock. Hell its about on par with a stock ls1,c5,06 mustang. So I dont know what your not impressed about. So I guess your not impressed with none of those cars listed.

I'm actually VERY impressed. I didn't think they were capable of 106 mph traps in completely stock trim. Good stuff.

The nicest thing I like about the car is the design of the rear glass. Probably a BITCH to replace, it follows the curve of the trim out to the trunk. Essentially the piece has very sharp bends... Very nice to look at really, one of the nicest backs of any car I've seen...

Can't say the same 'bout the 1st gens though.

Looks like a transformer but... One of the janitors of the Autobot base and also a crackhead that drops nuts and bolts everywhere.

He says this is a jdm 245 hp version. The US spec I believe was 200 hp and most likely will not run a 13.3@106. This is just more bow down to 25psi BS.

Back when I was in HS my buddy had a 91 MR2 Turbo...pretty cool car and very fun to drive. I raced him all the time in my 94 z28 A4(cold air/ muffler) and usually pulled a car on him. He only had an intake.

Actually the US version will hit mid to low 14's at 100mph.

Well the fastest stock LS1 has posted a time of 12.7, so there is still a big difference. So in my opinion it is not even close on par with a LS1.

the only stats i had was:
200hp 0-60 7.3 secs
245hp 0-60 was about 6 secs if i remember rightly

There in the same category as 4 wheel drive cars when drag racing. Hopefully when I go San Antonio this weekend, I should crack mid 10's at 135-138mph. I'm going to take vids this weekend and posted the same night.

Modified yeah I believe, but no not stock. They have been tested in the UK many times and no way in the 90's was an MR2 as fast or faster than the available Porshces and Ferrari's of the same era. If you believe so then you've been smoking too much "herbal " tobacco.

BTW - What exactly is a JDM MR2? You've referred to JSPC or something else in the other posts. Are these TOYOTA FACTORY stock cars or are you referrancing some aftermarket tuning company which sells modified MR2's. Because it makes a hugh difference.

Again I'm not sure where you are getting all this.

If the MR2 was so underatted how come they've always been clocked 0-60mph in the 6 second range. That is not a low/mid 13 second car capable of 106mph traps. Also the Celica GT4 was sold in the UK for holomogation purposes and uses the same 2.0 litre Turbo, again these where mid/high 14 second cars the same as the 225bhp Ford Escort Cosworth.

Lastly do you really believe a STOCK turbo MR2 is faster than a R34 Skyline GTR V-Spec? Because stock they are only mid 13's @ 107mph

And I'm not dissing your car or Japanese cars, In the past I've owned a Nissan 200SX Turbo, my borthers had a Nissan Pulsar and a Toyota Celica. I've driven Impreza's and Integra Type R's. And they are good cars in their own right.

But at the end of the day, reality is reality.

And as the MR2 Turbo weighs the best part of 1300kg it's not exacly a lightweight either.

Ok been having a look for what a JDM is. Here's Wkipedia's view on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_MR2#SW20_TRD2000GT

In 1998, Toyota Racing Development [1] offered an official kit body conversion and tuning programme for Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) owners to transform their existing SW20 MR2 into a widebody TRD2000GT kit replica car. This was to pay homage to the wins by their TRD2000GTs in the GT-C Japanese racing series, the TRD2000GT racing series cars were based on the SW20 floorpan. Toyota also did the same with their Supra Twin Turbo model, offering a conversion service to transform these cars into a TRD3000GT[2].
In order to ensure exclusivity, a high price tag was charged and total of just 35 factory car conversions where completed by Toyota Technocraft Ltd. Each official car converted was made using lightweight fibreglass components (in place of heavy steel original parts, front wings/fenders, boot lid, rear quarter panels, front and rear bumpers, etc.) and re-classified as completely new cars (with their own specially numbered TRD vin plate rivited to the body to indicate their authenticity and rarity).
All official TRD2000GT's had a 60 mm (2.4 in) wider front and rear track which improved handling considerably over the original suspension design. Virtually every car converted also had other TRD parts fitted too including extensive changes to both the suspension and engine. Some cars left the factory boasting up to 500 PS (493 hp/368 kW) and less than 1100 kg (2425 lb) for a very impressive power to weight ratio. TRD Japan never sold body parts for third-party conversion separately (except rear wing), they transformed complete cars.
Only 3 complete cars are known to have been shipped into Europe with only 10 complete kit conversions allocated to TRD USA for the entire American market. This makes these officially built TRD2000GTs the rarest of all MR2s and ultimately the most sought after and difficult to find. It is unknown how many original (non factory replica) cars still exist today. In many respects the extended body can be compared to that of a Porsche Turbo widebody. The car track width is extended and body dimensions dramatically changing the cars overall visuals, giving the car a "supercar" look, and also better handling and weight reduction. Very little is known about these cars outside of Japan.[3]
So it looks like a "true" JDM is very rare with only 10 having been sent to the USA.

If a JDM MR2 is something else, then I'm keen to know, cheers
