Default Flycutting - how hard - how much?

Never needed to do this before. What's the process involve? Can it be done with the engine in situ and what sort of cost?

Its fairly easy to do, a little time consuming, but not terrible. Youll need a junk head with all the valve seats removed. Youll need a cutting tool shaft and two cutting heads, one for each size valve relief. If you buy the parts yourself, it could be pretty costly. I dont know if theres anyone over the pond that rents this stuff. If youve got a lathe at your disposal, you could easily make the cutting head and use a 5/16 bolt as a shaft. Thats what I wound up doing.

Well if I go ahead and do this I can use my old heads as the junk ones because some new ones would be going on. Guess I'll have a phone around and see if anyones willing to do it because I haven't got the parts I'd need.

You can rent the tool from LG Motorsports and they can explain how to do it. I have NOT done it myself but speaking with them it sounds very very easy. Keep us posted on your progress. Best of luck,

Cheers, although I doubt LG will rent it to me for a good price. Getting the gear the other side of the Atlantic is costly

PM Guitsboy, he has some pics and can explain his homemade tools he used. One thing though, you'll need a LSx head with seats removed to do it. that head will be junk.

Does anyone have an idea of how deep you can flycut the piston with breaking through? Not meaning to hijack, this thread just caught my attention with the "how much" in the title.
