Question RPM stays up without gas

ok guys im confused with whats going on with my car now lol. i have been noticing that if im driving and i let it just coast with it not in gear and my foot off the gas the rpm will stay up and just drop back down to idle after a few seconds. whats going on here? is the cable getting stuck or something? thanks guys

i get the same thing...but mine stays at 1400-1500 rpm, until the car comes to a stop....then it will kick down to normal idle. almost seems like the iac is keeping it open for "easy driveability"...but its a pain in the ***.

stock 99 ls1 in a 92 GTA, longtubes and ls6 intake, so the motor is fairly stock.

mine used to do that. I pulled out the k&n, cleaned it, clened the MAF, and the tb. Never came back.

It used to happen to me in my old motor a lot. If you get a good tune they can take care of that for you.

IAC follower/decay. Is your car tuned? Mine does the same thing but I love it. With my big cam, it really helps the driveability.

Mine's always done it, even after cam swap and tune. At first I was like what the hell, why do you do that. Now I just live w/ it!

My car does that, too. I always thought it was the throttle sticking. I'm gonna try cleaning my filter/maf and see if that stops it.

Clean the maf with electrical contact cleaner.

To clean the throttlebody, unbolt it, disconnect the cable, and use a shitload of carb cleaner. Try to avoid getting it in the sensor/harness connections.

My car never did it, but I like to try to keep **** clean anyway.

The all do it. Its part of the ECU programming. There is nothing that you can clean that will make it stop.

Ive NEVER had this happen before. Maybe because the car was once an A4 then switched to M6 with the tune it was taken out ? Im not really sure, but I have never experienced this.
