Newer less mileage Trans Am or 99 Firehawk?
I found a firehawk with 85k miles 1999 for 12k, has all the optional SLP equipment minus the wing, has the ultra suspension etc.
My question is, is it worth getting that? I mean will the suspension need replacement anyways because of the mileage? I could find a trans am with say the same miles or less, buy it for like 8-9k and then spend the money on redoing whole interior, and suspension, and buy a WS6 hood, I might be able to haggle the price a bit - I would love to own a hawk, but with the mileage is it worth it? How many more miles would I have it for? Should I just get a TA with <50k miles?
In the end... what im basicaly going to have is...
17-18 inch rims, dropped either 1-2 inches depending on rim..
Two-Tone interior
Mostly show - not as much go, mostly bolt-ons with maybe exhaust mods
I might goto car shows

The Firehawk should/might retain some value better than a base T/A.
It all depends on what you are looking to do with it, ...
Weekend cruiser & show-off, ..., Firehawk
Daily driver, mod'ed to hell & back, ..., Low-mile base or WS6 to start with may be more ecomonical choice.
Yes, the Firehawk name will mean more to you, even if it does have 80k miles. Are they well-cared for miles? Or beat to hell & back miles?!?
Firehawk already have the 17" wheels?!? Why change them? That's part of the ownership package.
If it's all about going fast & adding parts to make it faster, ..., then the other routes will leave you with more mod money.
Well-cared for LS* based engines have been known to run for 200K+ miles.
All depends on the driving habits & care.
IMO, I'd do the Firehawk.

From what you said, you want to do more show and little or no go. Then I'd get a base TA and do what you want with it. You'll only be hurting the value and wasting money by changing around a Firehawk with a new interior. Get the cheapest with most miles.

The hawk will gather more attention than a T/A at a car show. I'm partial to the WS.6 cuz i have one but in your case I'd say get the Hawk. Plus,...It'll be worth a bit more later on in the future as PontiacFan stated.

I voted WS6 with low miles looks great without anything. I would try to find maybe a Collector car or a SOM. The stand out more and not eveyone has one. If you find one low miles and all original, Don't change anything. They are great cars and you'll be happy with what every you pick.

I would go for the Hawk...If you are one to mod like crazy and all that stuff get a base TA.
If you are a guy who "Gets It" when people talk about how a Firehawk is special, then get the Hawk.
I also like the idea of getting a "Special" WS6...a Collector's Edition or a 30th Anniversary TA would be considered a couple of the nicest TAs that Pontiac has ever come out with and,not everyone has one.

This was basically another thread (or maybe that was yours?), and I'll say what I said there. Hawk and keep all the parts you take off. But, leave the rims, the body, the interior ALONEEEEEEEEE If you want a mod-baby, get the 7-9K T/A.
