Default lt1 to ls1 t56

I tried using search but couldnt come up with anything.

What is the difference between the lt1 and ls1 t56? I fould a good deal on a rebuilt lt1 t56 and was wondering what I will need and how much it will cost to get it to work on my 408 Ls1. What else will I need besides a new cluth and flywheel?

About how much do you think it will cost? This is going into a 68 camaro so will having the correct slave cylinder even matter? \Sorry if this is a dumb question but I dont know a lot about the t56 or manual transmissions in general.

The input shaft is 170-200, and the front cover (bearing retainer) is around 100-120. Or maybe you can check some local tranny shops and find the parts used.

First you have to be sure you have the LT1 that has the 2.66 first gears set. If not , you will not easily conver it to an LS1 application and you should start over. If it has a compatible set(2.66) you can swap the input ( be sure to check the bearing end play), bell and front adapter with the parts from an LS1 box. As far as the push vs pull goes and installing in a '68. You will have to decide what system you like best. For an LS1 engine, I would follow through with the push-style concentric hydraulic slave system that came in the 98+ Fcars.

I have a 408 Iron block ls1 with afr 225's, cam motion 239/242 611/612. 10.8:1 compression. Im hoping for 500rwhp. Its also set up for nitrous. I might go with a 250hp shot Direct Port.

Get the model # off the metal tag
1386-000-006= 3.36
1386-000-007=2.97
1386-000-009,016=2.66
1386-000-017,020=2.66(LS1)

The guy is asking $950 for the fully rebuilt lt1 t56. Is it worth the money to try and make it work? Would that be a good deal ?

Almost every LT1 T56 has this ratio. the 2.97 and 3.36 first gear ratio was only used in 1993. So, if you T56 was made between 1994 and 2002, it has the 2.66 ratio. The input shaft will have 31 teeth. With the 2.97 ratio, it will have 29 teeth. Hope this helps!
