Default Did All '02 Firehawks Come With RAM AIR?

I was just curious... does anyone know if all of the Firehawks made in '02 came out of the SLP shop with the RAM AIR option? Or did they only give it the RAM AIR if the customer asked for it specifically?

Because if I remember correctly, Firehawks were made from either regular Trans Ams OR the WS6 Trans Ams, right?? So if a Firehawk was made from just a regular Trans Am (without the WS6 RAM AIR sports package) then that Firehawk model would not have the RAM AIR package, right??? Or did SLP go ahead and add the RAM AIR package to the regular Trans Ams anyway? Or were the WS6 Firehawks the only ones with the RAM AIR package??

Thanks!

EDIT: Also, sorry for adding something onto my original post, but I didn't want to start a whole other thread for this question...

Anyway my other question is... did the regular Trans Ams come out of the factory with 16" rims or 17" rims? And what about the WS6 Trans Am rims? Were they 16" or 17"?

And another thing... if a Firehawk has 16" rims, does that mean that it was just a regular Trans Am that was turned into a Firehawk by SLP? Or could it be that it was a WS6-turned-Firehawk but someone just took the 17" rims off it and put 16" rims on it instead???

Thanks!!

Firehawks and WS.6's were delivered with 17" wheels. Regular Trans Am's and Formula's came with 16" wheels.

None of the Firehawks started as WS.6's.

All Firehawks have their own "Ram Air" (not the WS.6 airbox) and 17" wheels.

Hrmmm ok cool thanks... well you answered my question about the Ram Air part, but now I'm confused about the wheels.

I'm looking at this WS6 that someone is selling but it says that it has 16" rims in the specs description part.

If the WS6s are supposed to have 17" rims then why does it say it has 16"???

Does it mean that this dealership took the original ones off and put new smaller ones on? Or is it just a typo or something and they really are 17" wheels?

the wheels on that red ws6 are the same wheels i have. mine are the standard 01-02 ws6 wheels, and are 17x9. unless somebody swapped them for a smaller replica but i don't know if they even make those in 16"?

The wheels are 17" factory WS6 wheels. They were the standard WS6 wheel for 2002. The 16" comment is just a typo.

There were three differnt types of wheels for the firebird/trans am cars.

V6 firebirds got a regular ole 16" 5 spoke wheel.

Formula and T/A got a 16" twisted 5 spoke wheel.

WS6 Formula and T/A got a 17" wheel. There were 3 different styles. 1 with smooth 5 spoke made in painted, polished and chrome. 1 that was like the one in your pic, only made in polished. Then there was the 3 spoke twisted design. They only made a few thousand of these and very few cars got them.

Some of the above information is misleading....

The Firebird, Formula and Trans Am were offered with 16" painted & chromed 5 spoke aluminum wheels (98-02). You could also get the 16" painted twisted spoke wheels (from at least 2000-02). There was a 3-spoke cast aluminum "fan shaped" wheel available starting in '93 that was used on both Formulas & Trans Ams (I know they were used in '94 too, but after that I am not sure). Base Firebirds had a flat-faced wheel with holes in it. It was aluminum as well and was offered from 93-97.

The 17" 5 spoke wheels were only available as painted (93-97 & 02), polished (93-01), and colored aluminum (99). They were never offered in chrome from the factory.

The wheels in the ad are for the 2002 model year only. Some late 2001 models got them, as I know at least one 2001 NBM WS6 car that has them. They were all polished aluminum, no chrome version was available from the factory.

You are correct about the twisted design. They were polished aluminum and only offered for a very short time in 2000. No chrome version was available from the factory.

Those are stock "base" Trans-Am wheels.. You also see some with a slightly twisted spoke. Both are 16x8" wheels.
