My wife decided to buy me a cam for my b-day without asking me what kind I wanted. She told Comp Cams what she thoiught the car should do and I couldn't tell you what she said. All I have is the cam card. I would greatly appriciate some opinions and information about the cam I now own.

Gross Valve Lift: .571 .572
Duration @ .006: 281 286 (tappet lift)
Duration @ .050: 228 230
.336 .337 (lobe lift)
LSA: 110
Rocker Arm Ratio: 1.7

um, from what i know thats about your ave mid range cam (not real big, not real small) but it being on a 110 i believe you will have a little bit of a choppy idle.
If im wrong hopefuly the cam gooru's will chime in a correct me.

Speedy is right...it's a mid-range cam, but there is nothing wrong with that.

It compares pretty well to some of TSPs cams.

Yours: 228/230 .571/.572

Theres: 224/224 .581/.581

Another one: 228/228 .588/.588

Just a general estimate of gains (as stated by TSP) would be 30-40rwhp.

Sounds like a nice cam. 110 LSA should give you a good idle as well - slightly choppy - if that's what you like.

It really depends on what you're looking for. If you're wanting a good DD that makes decent power and holds a good idle, I think you're set.

Obviously the bigger cams make more power, but sometimes they can be harder to tune and you sacrifice driveability, etc.

That's a decently sized cam that you could drive everyday with out to many problems. The 110 LSA should give you a very nice sounding idle (IMO). I'd say put it in and see if you like it, if not change it while your wife isn't looking so you don't hurt any feelings.

hell yeah 110 will give you a NASTY idle.. as for the converter, you will make a good amount of torque under the curve with that lobe separation but still have a nice rpm range with your duration, go with a nice 3400-3600 stall. if you want a little bigger im sellin a nice tci 3800 stall with 10k on it for 250 bucks, i did a 6 speed swap in my trans am and have that left over

wow. a 110 lsa for an a4. i don't know if that's common or not. i would get something in the 3200-3600 range for the stall.

110 lsa will be a very choppy idle and will prob shake the car quite a bit. just to give you an idea, 114 lsa is the norm for street cams because its smooth idle. 112 is chosen more for 1/4mile track racing with some chop.

most street cars with TR224s prefer the 112 LSA and there are a number of people running cams with 110 LSAs in their street cars, Like Patrick G. For whatever reason auto cars seem to need wider LSAs. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can help you out with a stall size, I'm an M6 guy.
