I'm not going to get on the "bash-wagon" but I will say that flat paint was really hot back on the old skool hot rods, but flat paint on a modern car just makes it look beat up.

the only reason why i would want a flat black paintjob is it is very hard for cops get a reading with radar... let the hotrods have it (they can pull it off)... and the ghey ricers can have it if it makes um happy and makes them feel cool

Dude PM me. There is a guy here in town with a bad-friggin-*** '88 Toyota Tercel painted flat back. I could get you in touch with him. He'd could tell you what paint to use and probably even tell you where he got his LED exhaust tip too.

for the record... flat black is near impossible to keep clean if your car is mainly outside due to acid rain.. once it hits the non finish paint it will drop and etch the hell out of it.... just my 2 cents

In order to do flat "right" you need to do base black then clear it but add a flattening agent to the clear so it's not glossy. There's ones that will make it semi-gloss or totally flat. I just got my GMHTP mag and GMPP has a 99 Z28 that they swapped an LS7 into and it's flat black. there's just a small pic of it in the "Bumpin' In" column. They're supposed to have a feature on it in next month's issue. It really depends on the vehicle whether it'll look good or not. I've always wanted to do a flat black late 2nd gen Z28.
