I have a 117k motor that I'm throwing a cam and heads in over the next few weeks. The motors are SOLID and will go well over 200k without issues. Don't hesitate, just throw the cam and some new lifters and springs in there and have a blast!

my car has 99,xxx miles I bought the lifters, pushrods, oil pump and timing chain. My brother put a cam in his car with just springs and couple months later oil pump went out when he was on the interstate.

I was wondering that same question. I am looking into a few 01 and 02 LS1 cars and was thinking a cam would def be in the works. Most of the cars I am looking at have 60-80k miles. So I would replace the valve steam seals, valve spring seats, valve springs, retainers, pushrods, rocker arm studs, possibly the rocker arms, the cam, timing chain, and oil pump along with all of the gaskets ofcourse. Anyone see anything else that I am forgeting? I am glad to hear people have done cam swaps whit a lot higher mileage. I did the one in my LT1 at 86k miles and have had no problems.

It just depends on the condition of the motor. If compression is good, and oil pressure is good, the bearings and rings are in good shape meaning you could. I have 104k, and oil pressure never gets below 45psi with 0W30 German Syntec. I'm planning on a cam swap late this winter which will include lifters and oil pump.

there really isnt a reason to swap out the lifters unless you are doing heads right? I mean, if the heads haven't come off and the pushrods look good, you are just taking an extra precautionary measure correct? On my LT1 I did not do the lifters, even though they were much more accessable, and still never had a problem.

I did my H/C set up this summer. Car had 99K miles on it.
On the high milage motors, I would change out the lifters just to be safe. You will be pulling your heads off for sure if one fails. So, might as well throw some new lifters and a set of heads on.. Just save up a few more $$.. Or just do heads and lifters before the cam.
