Default Tr 224/224 Edited

Ummm yeah I'm trying to pick out a cam and been leaning towards the TR224/224 .563/.563 but not sure if I want it to have the 112 or 114 LSA.

Now I'm pretty sure that’s the cam I want to go for but I'm worried what it's going to sound like. After I added my Kooks LT's to my Borla cat-back right around the 2200-3000 rpm range my car gets raspy and sound like **** then goes back to sounds like a LS1 after that. So I'm wondering what it going to sound like hoping to get rid of the raspy range instead of increasing it. So how about you guys give me some advice.

Brad

EDITED
Alright guys...... Anyone tryed out the FM-F2 224/224 .588/.588 112 LSA???

I have the exact cam your talking about on a 112, I like it quite a bit, although I'll be switching cams here in a month. Heres an idle vid: http://video.ls1tech.com/search/tr+2...698ab799e0.htm

Why the 224 with the low lift? You could get a little more from the higher lift 224 that has .581 lift at least. Or go with something bigger like a Patrick G cam so you keep that short duration you want, but get some good lift for better power.

Same cam here with rasp in the 2100-2200 rpm only. Thats with no cats, lt's, and a Gmmg. Power and tq is hard to beat when combined with the overall drivability. Numbers and mods in sig.

I have the same cam with KOOK's LT and catted y-pipe, it's on a 112. I'm swapping mine out this spring break for a custom cam. I don't think it sounds that great at idle, but the performance is decent. With the new cam I want 410+rwhp, and 400+rwtq.

Here's a sound clip

I would say a 228. Look at the Tony Mamo "recepe" ARF heads, cam (228/230?) & 90/90 set up.

Unless you get heads a nice ported TB will do the job since you already have a LS6 int.
If you get heads, then yeah 90/90 will then shine. (be worth the $$$ at least)

Honestly I'm upgrading because I've had it for awhile and I'm just getting bored of it. The performance on it is great, and I really like how the car sounds, just bored though. The cam I'll be going with is still getting spec'd out, and will probably be a secret until dyno and track #'s are produced, the cam will be for good track times tho and a very good midrange, not so much peak. 23X/2XX is about as far as the spec'ing has gone so far. The exhaust on the car at the time was Pacesetter LT's, Hooker ORY, 12 inch bullet in the I pipe with 3in piping the whole way unitl it split at the back for the tips.

i have the same cam. i have pacesetters LT's and i had a borla adj. exhuast system with no cats... it sounded like sh*t...and performed like crap too... i suppose there wasnt enough back pressure. I had it running through an open plate, so maybe that was part of the problem.. i dunno.. i didnt have the other plates so i dunno how it would have sounded going through the mufler. I think that all i needed was cats to make the car sound right. I think if your go with Lt's and borla, i think those systems need cats to make it sound right.... I ended up selling the borla and getting a X-pipe setup with bullets and dumps.. sounds like a beast now and i still had money left over from selling the borla.. get a 114 if you want the performance and to be some what of a sleeper, go with a 112 if you want ppl to know you have a cam for sure.

I have the TR 224/112 with long tubes, ory, and Borla catback and I like the sound. I'll be swapping my cam out this winter tho. Want more power. Going with a torquer v2 or a similar sized custom grind cam.

Cams are like a *****. Everyone wants a big one!
And as most ladies will tell you it's how you use it that matters most.

Same rule applies to cams. I can tell you from experience with my TR 224 it performed as good or better than some of those "big cams". I was able to make 432 RWHP and run mid to high 11's (full weight car) with great street manners and fun factor. I surprised many "big" cam cars on the street and track with peaky power curves and shitty street manners. IMHO big sticks work great for the track and the movies, but bigger isn't always better. I've learned that a well matched combination is what works.
