Rare F-Body!!! Suggestions, comments, opinions, etc.
Alright everyone. Here is a pic of my Sport Gold Metallic 98 Pontiac Firebird Formula. I got the car bone stock and am starting to do some mods to it. Nothing outrageous. Just planning to make it a mid-high 12s. It's my daily driver.
As far as rims what do you folks suggest? I was planning on getting the american racing torque thrust M's in black/chrome to kind of keep it old school looking since I put the phoenix on the front. Should I go chrome or should I do something with black to help accent things? Also comment on the bird. I was told that I was the only person to ever order that for a F-body by phoenix graphics.

I think you should holler out for a black w/ polished lip photoshop. I'm not feeling the chrome on that car at all, and solid black wheels are a little too plain imho. Black with a polished lip should look pretty clean.
What kinda tips you got pokin out the back there?
The hood bird is a real love hate thing. I'd imagine since you bought the car you probably like it, but most people aren't going to care for it. It's kinda like posting a car that isn't lowered. Stand your ground, the car is yours. If anything I don't like that there's that hood bird and the license plate bird in the same view, but I dunno how you can get around that easily. Maybe an intercooler grill...

I bought this car on a budget. My Formula when I bought it had a little over 80,000mi and living here in the Chicagoland area buying an ls1 that is half-way decent in the summer with under 100k will cost you 12,000 plus (For a color other than pewter). I bought this car for less than $9,000 bone stock. If you recall they made a metallic gold for the late 70s firebirds and t/a and had that bird on it. I thought I could make it a new-old school type. See the pictures can't really capture the bird and what it really looks like. It's metallic gold like the car so it plays tricks on you just like the car does. The main point is that that bird cost me less than 250 and I think it looks pretty good. Now getting a ram air hood (a "gm hood" cause we all know how those aftermarket ones can turn out) and getting it painted will be a $1000+ I appreciate everyone's honesty though. Maybe if I post some pics of it in different angles you'll see it in a better view. But you folks have to admit that this bird compared to others you see on ls1s looks a lot better
Answering the other question about exhaust... none other than the SLP Loudmouth baby! Hopefully soon to get the Hooker Comp headers. Super Comp a little expensive.

Soon to come for the formula
1.) Rims
2.) Tints
3.) Headers
4.) Underdrive pulley
Getting a raptor, firehawk, or ram air hood has been done to this car. Oh yeah by the way....bird is center camaro. guess the pic doesn't make it look that way

I ripped the molding off the car already but the car had been repainted in an area before and when they painted it the sprayed the car with the molding on and when I took it off there was a huge spray line. Underneath wasn't the best either. So i had new low profile moldings put on to get rid of the other ones

I think the car has some good/unique potential. I actually like the bird, and would keep it unless you plan to do a new hood. First apperance things I would do:
- Stance in my mind is everything, so get it dropped an inch or more
- Black TT2's or TT M's would look great on that gold color, and get them in at least 17's
- Black leather interior with the bird stitched in gold on the headrest
- Black caliper brackets and gold calipers
