Default LS6 or Holley

Title is straightforward..When I get my LS1 I will probably be doing the intake manifold and exhaust stuff first...so, LS6 or Holley, I like the looks of the Holley, especially polished, but I doubt I will get the polished one..Either way, a cam will be coming in the future, so I kind of like the idea of being able to port the Holley because I heard you can't really port an LS6...The main thing is, is the Holley emissions legal? If it's not, then I guess I will just go LS6...Neither would be bad, I would just like the better performer...Thanks

If you are not getting the polished one get the LS6. there are several for sale right now in the for sale section. $300-350 respectively. If you are going to shell out the money for the Holley polished....you might as well pull the trigger on the FAST intake.

I'd spend a little more coin up front for an intake that won't leave you wanting more:

You can't beat that deal...

Buy an '01 or '02 LS1. Then spend the money that you would have used on the intake on other stuff

i can only afford a 98-99 LS1 at the moment, once its time to buy, i'll have around 8500 cash to spend on the car itself...Is the fast 90/90 emissions legal? Also, will I see a gain with the 90/90 on a stock car with exhaust? I will eventually be getting a cam but not for at least a year after i purchase the car...I would like to go to the track before I get the cam, so i want performance, but I also want to be properly prepared when the cam comes in...Please help...

FAST intake is great for bigger cubes and FI cars but not so much on bolt on cars

I've been kinda lurking on this thread, bc I am thinking about the FAST 90/90 myself. I've decided to hold off.

Someone correct me on this, but getting the FAST 90/90 intake now is wasting your money-- buy it when you really need it, since its easy to install. (You can get a used LS6 on the for sale section, but it will not add much to your stock car, but it might just be all you need for the future too.)

For now, port your throttle body, and bypass the coolant. Invest in good cams, headers, and think about heads for the future. With cams and headers in, then think about intake. At that point, the Fast 90/90 adds only another 12-15 hp.

Best bet: Keep the engine stock and put on a Nitrous system- bang for the buck, its a fraction of all those things listed above. Thats where I'm heading.

no it just redirect hot coolant that goes through your tb on cold start ups back into the radiator. its worth a few ponies but not recommended if you leive in an area where it freezes often

90/90 is good for big cams and forced induction.

If I read the post right he is going to have 8500 to spend on the car AFTER he buys it?

**** with that kind of cash, then Full exhaust, heads and cam, Rear end, LID and other smaller things like Sub Frame Connectors and so on....

Also JTL12419 a LS6 intake will net you 8-12 hp just on bolt on alone I believe. So there is something to gain from an LS6 intake.

With Headers I suggest Pacesetters, bast bang for the buck and look good coated too something like 374 for a set, Since you are trying stay legal do not get the race style, a LID (whether it be Whisper, SLP and so on)TR 55 plugs and your pic of a cat back exhaust since you are trying to stay emmissions legal.

You are going to have to do alot of research to find what will keep you legal when it comes to heads and Cam.....

Good luck and hope some of this helps out.......
