Default 1st gen body on 4th gen frame??

I cant find the link that had an article about putting a 1st gen body on a 4th gen chasie...it was like an 11 thousand $ body that bolted up to the 4th gen allowing you to keep the interior the way it is with the look of a 1st gen outside...just wondering if anybody remembers it....

In Goodmarks booth at SEMA they showed 69 Camaro shells on 4th gen bodypans. Just buy a Ls1 Camaro and move everything over, piece of cake.

its a good idea. you can pick up a 4th gen shell cheap, cut it up and weld up the body pannels yourself.. cheapest way to get a 69 IMO, you dont have to spend 1-5000 on a car that you are going to replace 99% of it anyways. extending the body 7 inches wouldnt be that big of a deal, just do what they did, cut in the rear floor pan area and put more metal in. in addition it would give the tiny back seat the extra room it needs. if i was doing it id make sure that it had at least a 6 point cage to hold it together also..

Just needs a longer driveshaft and floorcarpet.

The shells looked real good. The enginebay is all 4th gen, the rearfloor with suspension mounts is all 4th gen. It really is a bolt on deal, just a lot of stuff to move over but it will be a cool car.

One thing that bothered me was that on one of the shells it still had the '69 VIN, on the complete car they showed the '69 VIN was not visible.

id sooner build a full cage style chassis and go from there with whatever i want, then spend 100k or whatever these bozos want for a 1-4th gen.

you think you'll buy all the sheetmetal for a '69 for less than 5k? good luck.

dude, what are you talking about, most people who buy 30+ year old cars end up having to replace body pannels anyways. so no matter that if you are buying quarter pannels to replace rusty ones on a 69 or you are buying new ones to graft onto a 02 you are still buying quarter pannels. might as well spend 500 bucks on a 4th gen you graft pannels onto than spending 2k on a car where you have to replace the quarters, roof, fenders, floor pannes and everything else you could think of just to end up with a 1969 handling and riding chasis.

whatever floats your boat. id graft one onto a corvette frame over a F(lex) body anyday. if you're buying **** that's been in a field for 30 years and is full of cancer, that's your initiative. mine was completely rust free. and spend 500 bucks? you cant get a set of quarters for 500 bucks. you dont realize what kind of task this is, it's not like, hey! let's strip these plastic panels off, and bolt some steel '69 ones on!. we might have to weld and bondo a little, though. yeah right. better get the plasma torch, MIG, and lots of gas and wire. not to mention the checkbook, just so you can have a 69 camaro that very few could tell from an original one. and it's not like you are forced to buy stock components for a '69 chassis. there are a slew of parts that'll make it run circles around your b4c... and i'm willing to put money down that my 39 year old car will stomp yours in a straight line. isnt that what they're for?

what? this has nothing to do with my car. i think that putting firstgen panels on a fourthgen car is a stupid idea. sorry if i came across cocky, i'd been drinking for a few hours, and had the cops called on me for "obstructing someone's driveway" with my little truck at 1130pm
