Default '00-02 ebony darker???

is the code, or color Ebony on the 00-02 really that black? I hear and see all over that is not the graphite, or dark grey we have in our 98's and earlier 4th generations. Anyone know the deal with this? And if it is so, does that mean the door panels, and center console and such are BLACK like that? That would be kool.

Graphite on the earlier 4th gens, & the Ebony on the later years are indeed a different shade.
I guess that's why they are called different colors, ...
Still don't really understand the question tho.

ebony is straight up black available on 00-02...in 97 and 98 99...the graphite was an available color and is all the same shade..96 gray was darker...00-02 did have graphite also as an option and is the same shade as the 97 98 99...as available on the 98-02 was the tan...i forget GMs official name for that

It's black, but not a dark black. but the darkest black offered. the whole interior is the same color (which makes it look not so cheap).

No, the '00-'02 "ebony" is not as black as you might think. My '00 WS6 had the "ebony" color interior, but compared to the black interior in my Monte Carlo, the F-body ebony looks charcoal gray instead. You'll notice the same difference when comparing an F-body black to the black interior found in a C5 Vette.

so mainly, if i went to a black aftermarket carpet, ontop of an ebony interior out of a 00-02, it would look a hell of alot darker than the above mentioned interior and a stock oem carpet...

Hard to tell without seeing the carpet in person, but I'd say there is a good chance that the aftermarket black will be noticeably darker than the stock ebony. I say that because, I had aftermarket deck and floor mats in my '00 WS6 that were black (real black) and they were clearly darker than the stock carpet. It looked fine though, because they were just floor mats. Not sure how it would look if the whole carpet was real black though.

I ended up going with aftermarket black floor and deck mats again in my '98 car. The difference is much more noticeable as the '98 has the earlier "dark gray" interior, but the black still looks good IMO, gives the interior a little more life. Below is a pic of my '98 interior, remember the difference won't be nearly as noticeable with a '00+ car though....but there is still a difference....
