Anyone thought of swapping in a 6LXXE tranny?
The new cars apparently have the ECM programing to handle the 6speeds, not sure about our older ones (OBDII might be more flexible). So say taking a 6L80E from the Vette and putting it into a LSx car, think that'd work? I'd love to put one in my LT1 car, but I'm quite sure the bellhousing won't bold up :\
Just figured I'd start a lil discussion

I'm hoping somebody will take the plunge because I'd love to do that when my 4l60E fails. With the 6l80E and 2.59 gears I'd have the same first gear overall ratio I have now with 3.54s, while having the same top gear ratio I had with 2.59s.

Right, I keep forgetting about the tranny being mated to the rear end lol But yea it's a sweet tranny! Hopefully they can make a tranny brain box like they have for the 4LXXE's.

lol I have a Conquest that has a independant rear suspension (RWD car if you're not familar with them) and I'd love to put it in like, a Volvo 740 Turbo or SBC.
Trust me, I thought alot about putting an older vette IRS into my 91 Firebird lol
I really want to put in the newer ride control Corvette shocks in my 93, the 3-setting adjustables.
What other cars use the 6Ls? I don't think the GTO does...

Since the G8 is out, I figured I'd bump this. I believe it uses a 6LXXE (haven't googled yet to see which model exactly), and also has the tap shift ability, so it would be able to utilize that paddle shift steering wheel kit.
Anyone want to take the dive and do this?

I don't believe the LTX, PCM is capable of controlling the 6LxxE series transmissions. I know the LT PCM will not control the 4L80E truck series transmissions. When people use the 4L80Es with their LTs, thay have to add one of the GM transmission controller modules and I think they are $3K+. Ouch!
