I thought you can't have LT in cali at all?

CheatR setup should do fine in passing smog.

I was thinking about going with the 224/224 112lsa Thunder racing cam. Whats a good set of heads for that? Or is it easier to get mine ported?

Most any heads will help that cam, as far as what'll let you still smog, i'm not from cali or know too much better off asking someone locally or someone who knows a great deal and understands what kind of emmsions you'll be putting out.

so thats what help i can offer for now and up for your question

i would say something like a 224/224 on a 114 with maybe some afr heads would make a nice setup.

Get the heads of your choice milled as much as you can without having them knock with that 91 octane that you guys have to deal with. This will make a more complete burn, hence less unburned hydrocarbons coming out of your exhaust. AFRs are a great choice if you've got the $, PRCs or Patriots are great bang for your buck. Look for Cali people in the dyno sections, see what setups they are running and how they get around emissions.
I also have a 224/224 .581/.581 for sale, with a sale pending, PM me if you're interested and I'll let you know what happens with the sale.
Good luck
AJ

Too much overlap will keep you from passing. IIRC, 224/224 on 114 LSA is about the max. If you want a tighter LSA, you'll have to lose some duration.

On a 112 LSA, you get 4 degrees more overlap than with 114. I would look for others who have passed smog with the 224/224 cam and see what LSA they run. More importanly, how much tuning was required to get it to pass.

You can always tweak the tune, but it's tougher to swap the cam out if you go too much. The same cam on a 114 will be quite comparable.

GMHTP said the 244/248 comp cam in a 427 dick harrel car will still pass a smog readiness test.

Oh i currently put down 336rwhp.. Will this package put me at or above 400rwhp? The timing chain, ls6 ported oil pump and the gaskets kits, should i get those as well?? I was thinking while im there i might as well do the timing chain and oil pump.

I live in California and will be doing the smog thing in about 2-3 weeks. I will be running 219/221 on a 112 with .590 lift and PRC terminators (205). If you're running an automatic don't go too radical on the stall - my 3600 wouldn't fly on the roller test at 2500. Good luck to us both. I will post the results when I pass...
