Default Converter and mph?

Will putting a mild converter(3200) increase mph or will it just lower your et? If it does increase mph about how much? I want to make my camaro run more mph at the track but am not worried about lowering the et. Trying to make the rear live.

thanks

It should have the effect of lowering et and increasing mph

Why do you want to run more mph at the track but not want a lower ET? Are you a Supra racer?

No just a bracket racer. The only thing important for finish line driving is the mph. The et is unimportant. Plus I figured it I wasn't going to gain much mph why put the extra stress on the rearend.

Mine stayed almost exactly the same and my ET dropped 4 tenths, but my shift points are all over the place and I was hitting the rev-limiter, so with some tuning I might gain a little MPH and drop another tenth or 2

So, ET is not important in bracket racing?

What do you do, dial in with your trap speed

My ET and MPH dropped but I don't think my convertor is very efficient.

Default ET was .40 better

On a stock '98 with longtube headers and airlid I gained .4. on my ET and lost about 1 mph switching to a 3200 Vig. Went from 13.65 to 13.23 and with a little cooler air three weeks later I ran 13.06 but still about 1 mph slower. The car ran 13.88 the year before without the headers.

So far I've dropped 1 MPH and the et stayed the same.....baby launch on street tires and tranny boucing the limiter on the 2-3 shift until I let out the gas. Once I get the new tranny, I expect the et to go down substantially and I can see gaining another MPH or so.

Bingo. Bracket racing is ALL about the ET. MPH does not matter one bit.

but to add to your thread, I went 13.5 @ 103 stock. Added converter and ET Streets and went 12.5 @ 106. so, ET went down and MPH went up. Get a good converter.
