doing ls6intake swap. but have a few questions

Default doing ls6intake swap. but have a few questions

Well im using the guide on ls1howto.com. however when i called GM about the parts need besisdes the actual manifold, they siad the number ofr the rear plugs was invalid. second the the coolant pip #1256847 is rather expensive. Can anyone send me a pic of this part so that I can return to the junkyard where i got the intake and see if i can recover this hose. And finally if i need ot order these parts is there an online dealer that will sell them.
- 1x 2001+ LS1/LS6 intake
- 1x 2001+ front coolant pipe - #12568478
- 2x 2001+ rear coolant plugs - #12562788 (Note, you can use a 2nd coolant pipe in place of these plugs if necessary)

I didn't buy the pipe or the plugs. I took the stock LS1 piping, cut the back two pieces off left enough of the pipe for a rubber cap and a small clamp on them. I believe i threw a small weld on them too just for the hell of it an installed them. The front pipe i just cut the pipe that goes to the rear, again left enough room for a rubber cap where it Y's off put a small clamp on it too installed it. No money wasted works perfectly.

I don't have any pic's hopefully you understand that . But if you don't feel comfortable doing that kinda stuff just buy the parts.

you can also get away with grinding away some of the ribs on the underside of the intake..

I cut mine as well but went with a different technique . Leave enoung room when cuttin the pipe to flattten the ends , roll them up and then use some half and half sodder . Never had any leaks but the bad thing is it is tough to tell if you got a leak on the back end because if the engine is hot and the leak is not huge it more than likely will evaporate before it touches the ground that and the only way to tell aside from that is to remove the intake itself .
If you want to buy the parts go to Gmpartsdirect or your local dealer . they will cost you some cheese but it might be worth the peace of mind .

You can get the front coolant pipe and plugs for the back at the dealership if you need them fast - don't ask for a PN, make them look it up - GM is constantly changing these PNs for some reason. If you can wait TSP.

I used a Dremel grinder on the ridges on the bottom of the intake. Works great, only takes a few minutes to do, and saves you like $50. Just dont grind past the ridges and youll be OK.
