I think what you are asking is if the LS1 was an option on the standard Camaro or Firebird. The answer is no. Standard cars came with V6 only. You had to buy a Formula or Z28 to step up to the LS1.

edit...oh you wanted to see if something like the 5.3 was an option. In that case, no also.

i think hes asking if there was another v8 and that you had to option for the LS1, to which the answer would be no

You could get an LS1 in a base model Camaro by checking off the B4C option... unfortunately for most of us, we weren't cops and couldnt do that!

The LS1 is not optional. It is manditory for every GM enthusiast to own one.

Now, go get yours.

I would have LOVED to been able to do just that!! I ordered a hardtop stripper anyway, but with the B4C I would have been able to get a body colored roof on it without having to take a dime-a-dozen black car!

I was going to try to order a 1LE car, but in 2002 it had to be an SS to get the 1LE option. The dealers order information said it wouldn't even let you order a 1LE Z28 (at least the book we were using/info we had), it had to be an SS.

1LE was just a suspension option granted i've never heard of it on a v6 car, but why not if it's just suspension crap?

I don't think 1LE could be had without the V8 motor.

I know it could be added to RPOs Z28 and WU8 (SS) during certain years, and WS6 as well during '98/'99 I beleive. But I wonder if one could have ordered options B4C and 1LE together?
