Annoying sound from rear end?
Help please. It started a few weeks ago but it never really bothered me until people started pointing it out. When my car is rolling I can hear this constant sound like somethings stuck on the tire. It's a constant rotating noise. I assumed it would be gone when I got my new tires but nope... still there. Could something be broken in my rear end or axle? I'm so lost here. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok, I had this problem twice and it was two different things. First one was pretty bad - I broke a tooth off my ring gear and it was a constant "clunk clunk clunk". The second was a lot simpler to fix. If you've had brakes done on the rear recently and they didn't put a non-directional finish on the rotors, it will cause the caliper to ride out from the center of the rotor and pop back down repeatedly causing a noise that sounds somewhat like a rock in the tire. (imagine how a record player works, but in reverse). The simple fix is to take an air powered die grinder with a scotch disc and run it over the surface of your brake rotor. That cured my problem for me. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem...weird noise occasionally, I mean OCCASIONALLY. But it sounds like something is loose and vibrating when it does it. Not often at all, but when it makes the noise it pisses me off. I actually thought it was my spare tire loose and vibrating, but I tightened it down and it still makes the noise...
