I am looking at a Camaro SS Sunday, I have some questions
I am going to look at a 1998 Camaro SS M6 with 75000 miles. What should i look at to make sure i'm not going to ripped off?

Look at the RPO codes and make sure there is a code that says WU8. That means its a real SS. If it doesn't have that code, then its just a modified Z28 made to look like an SS.
Check everything mechanical (engine, trans, rear), look under the car for structural damage and corrosion, and drive it to make sure that there are no alignment issues and the clutch/drivetrain feels good.
Good luck.

He is asking 10,900 but i figure if i offer him 9700 or 9800 he may take it, nothing beats cash right? Thanks for all the tips I'll make sure to check all that stuff out.
(I feel ya on the power window motors, I have had to change both of them in the Vette I have now and I do not want to do that again!)

talk him down way more. 8...9k tops. depending on the condition of the car. Don't buy the car right there, sit on it for a day to make sure you have a clear mind when you make the decision.

I got my car for 8900$ from a dealer, who was selling his personal car. My car had the catback and 4.10s in it when I got it. EDIT: it had the lca's and the phr, and had full hotchkis springs all around. It had been driven before, but with 79k miles and proof (in the manual/service records) that it had never been driven winters, and was stored. There was no underbody rust, or anything. I probably could have talked him down on that price even, but I knew the car was hard to come by (hardtop, m6, cloth interior) and I just wanted the nbm color too. Basically, I bought a perfect drag platform (dont bark about the m6) and the seller knew I was buying it with that intention. I still go back to see the guy every few weeks or so. Hes a cool guy, owns a place called AllStarHotRods.

I paid all most 12k for my 2000 white ss with t-top and leather and 85k on it off ebay. Car had zo6 wheels and stock 10 spokes with loudmouth and lowered and I wish I hadnt spent that on it now. So yeah talk him down cause you gotta have some money for mods!!!

He had it on ebay and it only sold for 8500 so he ended the auction and told me there was no way he would take that for it. After talking to you guys I figure I will start at 9000 and see where that takes me. I know I don't want to pay anymore more than 10,000 for it though because (like you guys said) I need money for mods.

Damn that car is not worth that, 98 is the weakest LS1. It has EGR and not as good heads, and it has a different computer than the 99-02 that sucks ***. It has the lame LS1 intake manifold too. $9000 max dude, 9K MAX!

Also does anyone have a link to a post that has all the codes like stated in the first post? Also how do you really know if the clutch is bad?
