Somethings wrong with the car... (video inside)
OK, heres the vid..
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/a...840114a6b2.htm
Does anyone have any clue what it it?
We were driving about a 130 or so when the car shut off. we coasted it into a parking lot and the battery was pretty much dead.
So I towed it home and recharged the battery.
Now it makes this horrific griding noise when I start it. The first time it did it it started, made the noise and the motor shut off on its own.
The second time i did it to get video, it started and didnt shut off so after a second and a half i killed it cause I didnt want to continue to hear that noise.
Anyone have any clue what it is?
I was thinking maybe the flywheel is bent, I sure hope to god its nothing with the motor.

i dont know what it is but your not gonna know either untill you start pulling your motor apart.....cause that one will never run correctly again sounds like it could be a bearing or a rod.....but like i said its not gonna be good!

Sounds like the lower end is trashed, but that's just a guess. Try turning the engine over by hand (on the crank bolt with a ratchet), and see what it sounds/feels like.
You could also inspect the starter/flywheel and cut the oil filter apart to look for metal shavings.

try checking the alternator. there could be a good chance that something is wrong with that by the things you said happened.
then like imtmd8 said try turning it over by hand (with all the belts off) to see what it feels like.
try turning all the accessories over by hand also
or maybe your big turbo just sucked up a small animal.

I did try pulling the serpentine belt off before and the alternator spun freely without any resistance or noise.
Is it possible I would still need to replace it, or would that of been the issue?
I dont think it would be motor related because oil pressure was fine, fuel pressure was full, just a strange occurance.

Actually there is a cover on the front lower side of the T56 bell-housing that can be removed. I believe there are 4 screws that hold it in place. If you can jack the car up it should not take more than 10 minutes to remove the cover and do a quick inspection. If there is something wrong you should be able to at least see what your dealing with before you pull the T56.

The very first thing I would do is drain the oil & run a magnet through it, also try to stick a magnet in the oil pan hole to see if you fish something out. If it is all clean (no metal) then work on the clutch.

I would start with the simple stull like Jim said drain the oil and cut the filter open and see what you find even if you had good oil presure it doesn't mean it is ok etc...A magnet will only catch metal and not alumium so cutting the filter is the best option and it is cheap. Then if everything looks good there go to the clutch and bell housing and start to poke around. Good luck!

Maybe try taking the serpentine belt off and start it to see if the noise is something there. Odd the battery went dead but holds a charge after re-charging it, kinda does seem like something with the Alternator. What about the turbo, does it spin freely as well? is your oil pressure still good?
