Default Chevelle guy: MWPE Firewall smooth kit

I was looking around some other forums and stumbled across this great product to help all us A-body owners have a nice clean firewall. It is a firewall smooth kit from Metal Works Performance Engineering: http://www.metalworksperformance.com/products.cfm

I talked to a guy on another forum who has one installed and said it is a very good product. I called them up to ask about it and all of my questions were helpfully answered. I just got the kit in the mail today and my first impressions are the kit is very nice and will save me quite a bit of time and headache. It is 16GA steel all laser cut and prebent. Comes w/ detailed instructions on how to install it and they offered phone support if I have any problems.

I will let you know how the install goes. I wanted to put this up, because I have not seen another product like this and wanted to share.

This is from their site after installed:

Is it a full plate for the firewall or just for the AC evap box?

It is 4 seperate pieces. There are some small pics on their site. 1 piece covers from the wiper motort/trans tunnel over to the passenger side. Then there are 3 smaller pieces for the drivers side: 1 covers the area near the fuse box and 2 for the steering column if you are using an aftermarket column w/ a ball style pass thru.

I will take some pics of the actual pieces and put them up for you.

This kit welds over the original firewall. I started taking out the old seam sealer last night and will hopefully start getting it in sometime this weekend. I need to put the body back on the chassis so I can get in the car to weld from the backside.
