Question Question about factory alarm

I just bought my car last Thursday. 2000 Z28 with an auto. 2 Questions.

1) When I hit the lock button on the keyless, the car honks once and flashes the lights. The strange thing to me, is that after about 15 seconds, the car honks twice and flashes the lights again. Is this normal? Does anyone know if it can be changed?

2) I changed the oil and filter for the first time today. I checked the book and it called for 5.5 qts. of 5w-30. Does everyone use 5.5, or do some of you put all 6 qts. in?

Thanks!

if you press the lock with a door is open it will honk once and when it is all closed it will like confirm it is armed, thats when it honks twice. i will usually press lock on the door panel and when all the doors are locked it will only flash the lights. or if you close everything and then press the lock it will honk 2 times. as for the oil i have put in 5 and end up putting the other one in later. and sometimes i just put all 6 in

If it only honks once, be sure the hatch is fully closed. I always put 6 quarts when I change oil, even with the stock size filter.

Default So it should honk twice!

So, in your cars, the car honks once when you hit the button, and then after a few more seconds it honks twice more. Total of three honks. I'm just curious because it's kind of annoying. When I go to someones house, they think I am honking at them before I get to the door. It just seems weird!

yeah i think if it honks once, its telling you one of the doors or the hatch is open/not closed properly, twice if its all good in the hood

You could disable the alarm altogether...look under 'Alarm' in your owners manual for info.

i always press my button again after the first conformation that it is armed.
i also put 5.5 in my car. i change it evey 2500-3000 and it doesn't burn any of it or gets it in the intake.

It will also honk or flash lights depending on how you locked it prior, when you open the hatch with the remote and then close it. to tell you the car is still locked
