LT1 to LS1 swap?
I have been wanting to put a new motor in my 95 Z28 for a while now. But I can't seem to make my mind up between stroked LT1 or a LS1. Has anybody done this conversion, how bad was it, do you have to change the K-member?
I really love my 95, but am tired of the opti-spark, I have had nothing but problems out of mine(screws in the rotor backing out,MSD) and putting so much money in the LT1 just to get spanked by my friends with little money in their LS1. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'm a killjoy on MSD Opti's. Just use the stock one! If you wanna whip on your buddies LS1's. Get H/C package. Some net you 400+ at the wheels!!! Don't give up on the LT1.

We had all kinds of problems with Opti-sparks, and ended up using the Dynaspark, which took care of caps loosening up, and all the other problems we were having.
It would be easier to keep the LT1 engine, but the swap can be done, and probably would be easier if you install a BMR LS1 K Member. It looks like we'll be going this route with our '95 formula that is in my project car section. Bob

Thanks everyone for your ideas, but I haven't made my mind up just yet. And yes I love my LT1 motor, when working right, and hate when it acts up. Which it seems here lately acting up is all it's been doing. But I haven't given up just YET!

just build your lt1 it cost to much to do that kinda swap just build the lt1 355 it 8.5 comp splayed 4 bolt and run a turbo on the car for about 10k and atleast 500 rwhp compared to 6k for the ls1 swap and u have about 350 hp and the ability to say u have an ls1 swap or u can say i have a turbo lt1 what now ls1 boy what now. lol so stick with the iron its more durable so u can beat on it more and u can run boost and spray all day were as u have to wory about the block with the ls1
