Big HP H/C Packages - Common Denominator
I've been doing some bigtime homework on H/C setups, and am looking to do this to my 01 C5 in the next few months.
My goal is 450+rwhp, 425+rwtq. Anything less and I'd be disappointed.
It seems that a few shops, ECS, Vengeance Racing, and TEA have had some big power #'s recently. Aside from a FAST 90/90 setup, I've noticed two other pieces.
TFS(Trick Flow) heads. The 215s are putting up some incredible #'s, and aren't much more expensive than your AFR 205s.
Harland Roller Rockers. These are making awesome #'s with the TFS heads. How do these RRs give more power than the factory 1.7s. I've been told to stay away from anything other than the factory ratio.
Each car I've seen with these 2 components has put up over 470rwhp, with great low end torque as well. Obviously the supporting mods are a must, U/D pulleys, LTs, etc.

I'm amazed recently of the new H/C packages myself. It's like suddenly we went from 430 to up near 500 as the new peak rwhp to expect. Looking back to when the FAST 90's first came out people really knocked them, but now we are also seeing their full potential in these kits when they are ported. I'm glad that I waited (not really waited, I just don't have a lot of extra cash) to buy a H/C kit, because had I a year ago I would definitely want to change now. Everything you stated in your post seems to be the same way I'm thinking. The only other thing I would consider with one of these kits is an electric water pump. Good luck.

Update
After speaking with Vengeance Racing today, I found that a set of true roller rockers is required because of the different geometry of the heads. The Harland RRs can be had for $350.
I'm waiting for a price quote, with and w/o a FAST 90/90 setup.
I was told a set of the TFS 215s w/ a 23x/24x .61x/.61x 113+3, with a free flowing exhaust(LTs) and intake(FAST 90/90), w/ U/D pulleys and most of the small stuff should see 480+ rwhp.

another supporting mod is compression, make sure you optimize the scr / dcr with whatever cam you choose. scr could be 13.0:1 as long as the dcr is under 8.8 .
8.5-8.7 dynamic compression is where you want to be . your o1 c5 currently has 6.9:1 dcr .

Yes I was just thinking about the DCR.
Isn't there a calculator on here for that?
I've been on Corvette Forum for a few hrs. a day since I bought my 01 C5 in July.
I just stumbled over here a few days ago, and have learned an INSANE amount over the past few days.
