Default Which Cam?

Im buying a new cam for my 02 6-speed SS and im wondering which cam to buy. I drive the car alot during the summer so i want a cam that is streetable. Im thinking of going with one of the LG cams. I cant decide on either the G5X1,X2, or X3. Anybody have any suggestions? Suggestions on a different cam welcome...

Well, the LG cams are great for keeping drivability but still coming on like a beast in the upper RPMs. I love my X3. And a few local buddies have the X2 and they love it as well. There's only 2* duration difference between the X2 and X3. Either is great.

So you wouldnt go with the X1? You suggest X2 or X3? Driveability is ok with the X2 and X3?

X1 is just so small I think it'll leave you wishing you'd gotten more. And it's not on the same scale as its bigger brothers. Driveability is perfectly acceptable with the X2 and X3. It's all in the tune.

I went with with a 224 228 on a 110 LSA +2 with XER lobes. You can order this from TSP for the same price as a off the shift cam.

I wanted more mid range. I did not want to worrry changeing valve springs every year. Plus I want a good idle. To many of my freinds with bigger cams have alot less drivablity.

You want high a high RPM motor get a big cam. More mid range small cam.

My car was alot faster with the new "small" cam

^^What cam did you have before the 224/228? I only ask because it sounds as though you went from big cam to smaller...

Mine is a 6-speed.
What are you questioning?
Do any of the local guys have cammed cars? Drive them! Ride in them. Check their track times. Get one that performs how you want. That's why I got my X3. I saw people whose cars were still drivable but good on top. From what I can tell, I lost nothing down low going from a 224 to an X3. I love it. But get what YOU want.

Thats the thing, I dont know anybody with a cammed car and i know very little on this subject. It does sound like i will be getting the X3 as long as it is good on driveability. Thanks, N4cer

Well, like I said, get what you like. I'm partial to the cam because I've seen so many of them run good. But I have a few buddies who have the X2 and they claim it's a better cam all over the powerband except the X3 made about 8hp more at like 6600rpm. So you can't go wrong with either. But GET WHAT YOU LIKE. And enjoy!
