Default Quick question

I do not own a lsx car yet but plan on purchasing one in about a year from now after i graduate boot camp.i plan on either a clean trans am or camaro.preferably a 99^ since the 98s were down on power a little and had a few kinks.i had a question about my setup id like.i was thinking some LT's true duals, lid, intake(prolly a 90/90 setup) the 1.5 heads from TSP and a Magic stick 3 or 4 and a good clutch, rearend and some 4.10s.ive not decided between an auto ot m6 yet.if i go with an outo id ad about a 3500 stall some 3.42s and a tranny cooler.hows that setup sound?i know i have alot of time and my plans will probably change but as of right now thats what i really want.im only 17 but i do know a good bit about cars and especially the lsx.ever since my dad had a cammed and bolt on 99 z28 ive absoluely worshipped these vehicles.

Not true. '98 will make the same power as a '99. '01+ tend to dyno a bit higher and run a tad faster stock due to some upgrades over the years.

But '98 vs '99 will be no difference power wise.

Proud to own a '98, and I'd buy one again.

They are a different casting number (806 for the '98 vs 853 for '99/'00), but to the best of my knowledge they are both sand cast (unlike the 241s that are die cast for '01+). Only noticeable difference is the valve covers (perimeter bolt on '98 vs centerbolt on '99+) and the coil pack mounting configuration (individual coils mounted directly to the valvecover on '98 vs a coil rail that mounts the full set of coil packs to each valvecover on '99+).

No problem.

I'm sure you'll love any year LS1 car you get. They are a blast, and very addictive.

Good luck with your search, and welcome to the site.

Sounds like you have a good enough plan. One thing to take into account, you might want to mod slowly at first, then add mods as you get used to it.

For instance, get headers and true duals first, then an ls6 intake manifold and ported tb. Then after you drive on that for a while, then get a cam, and later on heads, etc.

Then you can work on gears, if M6, or stall if A4, and drivetrain mods...

That way you can truly enjoy each mod, and have time through the stages, rather than getting everything all at once.
