no a built trans with stiffer pump spring and thicker sunshell and tight bearing clearances should be able to exceed that , These are just the specifications as published by GM .
I posted it because I see many post asking what a stock 4l60e can handle and this looked like the answer

no.....t the weakness that determines that 6,000 rpm shift speed is due to the weak pump and spring. it doesn't let enough fluid get to the clutches at high rpm's and that results in toasted clutches. fixing this problem lets you wind it up further...but not much further. of course, you still have to worry about breaking your planets, stripping your sunshell and all that jazz up at those high RPM's. just know the faster you spin things, the better chance of them flying apart - no matter how built the tranny is.
A stock 4L60E will do fine shifting at up to 7500rpm......

well guys these are gm specs and in fact the probably are under rated somewhat considering gm has to build a car that in stock form needs to last 100000 plus miles , So im sure these numbers ae a little less that what it can actually handle but it a good baseline to think by

my buddy has 3 ls1 a4 b4c cars, all of which had over 120k on them at the time of purchase. one of them went 162k on the stock trans/engine before he pulled/replaced both with built units. the other had 135k on the stock trans with no problems, and the last one is up to 125k now with no problems.

cool I like people saying when there 4l60e did well ussually the only post that happen is when they dont which give the impression however wrong that the 4l60e is very trouble prone transmission when this is far from the truth ,But as is human nature we tend to whine far more about things when they go wrong and have little o say if anything when they are right

ok, i will ad to that the l460e is a very good tranny and it will hold over 600 foot lbs of torque for brief periods. it is not expensive to to upgrade. i have one guy in my shop who has done over 100 upgrades to full rebuilds (most all of it for racing) on this trans.

my personal experience with the 4l60e is about 63k miles worth of abuse, 25k of which had a 4k stall and transgo full race/high stall shift kit, which resulted in consistent low mid 1.6x 60' at the track. it shifted just as well the day i got rid of it as it did the day i bought it. it's a stock transmission, i think you guys are asking too much of stock parts...just because the engine was touched by the hand of god doesn't mean he stuck around long enough to hit up the trans, too!
