Default finally dyno tuned-good news + bad news

Well, I finally made it to a dyno to get this thing tuned. Put down a whopping 456 rwhp and 498 rwtq. Doesn't sound so good, does it. I know everyone just looked at my sig, and is thinking that sucks. BUT, here's the kicker....that was only at 5 psi!!! My single walbro just isn't cutting it right now. This thing is going to be an absolute animal once I get the fuel setup.

Fuel pressure was dropping from about 62 psi down to about 38 psi throughout the run. And we just couldn't get it any richer at higher boost levels. The car pulls pretty frickin hard right now too, so I'm excited to get the fuel done. Thanks to gtodoug for the help getting this thing runnnnnin!!

Anyone have some suggestions on a fuel setup?

Yeah I know. I just ran out of money to buy this stuff. Hopefully in the next few months I'll make some money, and finish this thing up. I'm hoping to get 15 psi into this thing once it's done!!

Those are some good numbers for 5lbs. I find it wierd that the fuel pump is already out. Is it a 255 pump? I always can run those over 500rwhp.

Yeah, it's a single 255. I thought we would be able to get it over 500 rwhp too. But, we couldn't even get close. The fuel pressure would just drop like a lead balloon.

tt427ls1, your observation is exactly why I'm actually excited about these numbers. Did I want higher #'s? Sure. But at only 5 psi, this car is rippin!

I'd really like to see where you go with this upgrade.

I think you're doing great for the low boost.

Have you checked the voltage to the fuel pump? I got more RWHP than that out of my GTO with the stock pump feeding 60# injectors. I'm not knocking your build, just your obviously POS fuel pump.

Something is wrong with the fuel filter, wiring, or something. I've used them WAY past that hp level.

A single 255 with 60# injectors isnt gonna cut it. Im running a dual 255 intank setup with no problems. Make sure you run some new wires and good relays to make sure there is no voltage drop at the pump.

I am running the same dual walbro 340ss's, but I did get 601 out of a single walbro and a BAP so depending on your goal you could do a number of things such as obviously fuel rails and move the regulator on the rail or real close anyways and you could add a MSD or Kenny Bell BAP or even the Casper voltage booster. I know old Rob Raymer was using a single witha return line and did well over 600rwhp on the single turbo car. Sounds like you are making decent power just thought I throw those few things out there and give you a few options. Good luck.

With fuel pressure being so low, I would not go wide open throttle until you get the fuel system upgraded. I would go with a system like what we did on this Trans-Am. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=42 Bob

do you have your fuel pressure regulator set up as boost referenced? that should help along with a boost a pump.

I'm going to be doing that to my car once i break in my new converter.

That's at the wheels. And this is on 18 inch rims, which I hear has a negative effect on the #'s too.

Thanks everyone for the help. Bob, when we saw fuel pressure dropping that much, it was at 7.5 psi. We turned the boost back down to make sure fuel pressure remained constant.

Maybe my tax return will be good this year???

The only thing done with the fuel system is the injectors, and the fuel pump! So, I knew this was going to happen. I was just hoping to get a little more out of it now. I think I'm going to skip the boost a pump setup. I'm afraid that it won't support my ultimate goals, and then I'd have to re-do it again . Thanks.

I have an LPE/Walbro pump and although LPE says it's good for 600 horses, my car couldn't do over 480 rwhp at 6K before pressure started to drop, pretty much like yours did. The solution was to install a Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump, and now my fuel pressure is rock solid all the way up to 6600 rpm.

For 5psi, that's damn good! Get a dual 225 lph intake pump setup with a new fuel pressure regulator, fast fuel rails, new feed line and use the stock line as a return line. Then you'll be good to go when you want to turn it up. If you need anything, you know my number.

that still sounds low to me for a 370 with an upgraded turbo with heads/cam.Unless the motors not making much NA thats not alot of hp/psi.i could be wrong, whats your CR?sounds like a nice setup btw

EDIT...did some backwards math the cars only making ~340rwhp NA.Low compression?
