Default Windshield is louder than my exhaust.

Its been about a year now since I had my front windshield replaced, but a few months ago, it started making a LOT of shuttering sounds. Its very loud and annoying. It seems that any little bump in the road makes it creek and groan. It actually sounds like its going to fly off.

Is there anything I can do about this? How hard is it to redo the lining/sealing around it? Would that fix the problem? Please help, this is driving me nuts!

I used to have this issue with my '00 WS6. It was the stock windshield though, it did that since it was new. Only in cold weather though.

I'm interested to see what people recommed to fix it. I just lived with it, since I rarely drove the car in cold weather.

Now that I think about it, I have noticed many many squeeks and rattles since winter began. But I know that the windshield isn't on right, on the passenger side, the seam between the window and the side pillar have seperated. No leaks though...

If your windshiled is making any noise at all it just not right. Cold weather or hot weather. Basiclly it was not installed properly most likely it was not primes when installed. A correct w/s replacement is very important to the structure of your car and the safety for you and your passengers. Make sure they always use a good name brand glass and factory oem urathane (GLUE). If your glass is making that much noise the only way to properly fix it is to have it taken out and reinstalled the correct way. If any ever has any glass related questions feel free to ask I am have been installing for 15 years and will be glad to help..

Thanks for your help. Is there a write-up on installing windshields?

Well I'm all for it...

Its so expensive to have someone do it, and I'm sure lots of people would rather not make an insurance claim to have a windshield replaced.

Good point, something worth looking into.

260 is a little high but as you said you cant put a price on a correct installation. More than anything is to be educated on it so you can watch them on your car to make sure it was done right and is safe for you and your family or passengers.

my windshield needs replacing and it started doing the noise thing recently... i drive over rougher roads all the time though, but I realized, after that started making noises, so did my T-Tops... WTF ...

all the glass on my car sucks it seems...
both of my door windows seem like they shift when they roll down now... not sure why that is, didn't ever notice it before, but they've slowly been getting slower as well...
not something I'm thrilled about on a car with under 21k miles still

I hear ya on the rolling down slowness...

The knocking noises I have seem to come from where the T-Tops meet the windshield.
I hear that both issues are pretty well-known around here.
