Default Best traction on daily driver

I have an A4 02 WS6 with traction problems. From 40mph and under the car lights up the Eagle F1 GS 275/40R17s. Forget punching it off the line. I just ordered a 3500 stall, shift kit, Pacesetter LTs, and FTRA kit, and will have true duals put behind the Pacesetters when they arrive. I'm sure my traction problem will be amplified. I need a good drag radial that can take the abuse of a daily driver. I put less than 10k miles a year on the car.

I'm eyeballing some Nitto 555 275/40R17s? Any suggestions?

You forgot the "R" on the end of the "555". The 555 is their regular street radial, and will give you just as much of a traction problem as your current tires. The 555R is the drag radial.

From what everyone says on here, the Nittos (the 555R) are probably the best bet for a daily driven drag radial. They need a lot of heat to hook really well, but that's why you do a burnout.

best for daily driving = nitto 555rs
bfg drs are better for traction than the 555rs but less streetability especially in the rain
the m/t street radials are best for traction but u can forget about dding them

Why forget dd'ing the ET Streets?

I daily drove mine for over 5000 miles without ANY issues and still had the rubber ***** on them when I resold them. They hooked the entire 5000 miles with 4.10s and a 4400 stall.

If you don't see a LOT of rain in your area, go ET Street. I saw the rain probably 5-10 times but chose not to drive to far. 30mph+ is a miracle in the rain with ETs. I've heard 555s aren't even worth it.

Many of us don't have an option to do 30 MPH in the rain...I have to hit the interstate for a ways to get to work in any reasonable amount of time. Doing 30 MPH on the interstate because my tires aren't up to snuff would just be dangerous, because everyone else is doing 70.

People's ideas of what is daily drivable varies...to me, ET streets are not fit for my daily driving. Especially when it is supposed to snow here tonight.

Well I live in a small town so 30mph is the usual around here for most folks! BTW, 30mph in the rain with ET Streets is probably pushing it...

We get a pretty good bit of rain in Kentucky. This car sees it sometimes, so I need something that will hook good and work well in the rain. The Nitto 555r DRs and the BFG DRs have my eye...

Tire rack is really good! FWIW, the bfg g-Force T/A KD helped a lot w/ my traction. It's a really great tire!

Default Best traction on daily driver

I have put about 10,000 miles on my Nitto 555R Extreme Drag Radials on my 1997 Camaro Z28. I have had no problems driving 70 in the rain. They still feel like the pavement is dry to me and I have had little to no tread wear! And they are AMAZING at the track! I also have about an 80 mile drive to the closest track so they work GREAT for me!
