What are the major difrences between the two and wich will flow best for a solid roller motor 7500rpm+

You are probably going to want a ported pump. Don't want to go low on that high of a spin.

Its my understanding that the melling already flows more volume and has a stiffer bypass spring for higher pressure. Ported pumps were the best we could do before aftermarket pumps became available.

I didn't know melling had a pump out. I'd def get that one then. Their rep is really good. I've never heard of a melling failing or being weaker than OE. Get the melling and port it if needed.

There's 2 springs with the Melling a standard pressure and a high pressure spring. From what I've been told is that most stock displacement, or heads and cam cars should run the standard spring which is still higher than the LS1/6 pumps.

Also the Melling has two spots on the back of the pump that have to be ground down a little to work with a double roller timing set.

melling #10296= high volume 15-18% more, high pressure.(2 presure spring options)
melling #10295= std. volume, but high pressure 50psi+ at idle.
tsp pump= don't know much about them, but i think they are just a ported stock pump, with a higher pressure or shimed spring.
i would probably use the #10296 pump in your application, if your turning 7500+ rpms, you would want atleast 70 psi at that rpm, and that pump will do that with the red spring in it. as far as clearances with pump to timing chain set ups, all your dbl. roller set ups give you a shim to clearance it away from the pump. it is close, but i have never had one rub.

these all relate to an old style melling m55 pump, which is used on 1st gen/2nd gen small block motors, it has no relation with the gen3/ls style pumps which are designed totally different. thanks for the info though. i have been using these pumps for a while on lsx motors, and don't have any issues, but 1 complaint about predicted pressures.
