Mail order tune ok just for LT's?
I have a $50 discount from PCMforless for tuning and when I do my combo, I am going to do LTs and an LS6 intake/Ported TB for about 3 months before I do my heads/cam. The closest tuning place I have to go to is 3 hours away and it'll cost $400 for a tune. I can get a tune through PCMforless for $200. If all I need a tune for is the LTs and to remove the rear O2's/AIR/EGR, wouldn't that be a cost effective solution? I need to get tuned again for the heads/cam setup, but I will be purchasing my own tuning suite for that. I've already had tunes through PCMforless and they were really good, worked perfectly for my LT1 Caprice, and that was for a heads/cam/LTs combo. Anyone have a reason I shouldn't do this?

if you're going to do heads/cam 3 months later... I would say wait until then to consider a tune, the rear o2 codes and EGR won't affect performance, and I personally would say 200 is rather high for just a tune for an LS6 intake and headers (mail order at least)

Just get the codes deleted that you will throw with the install of the headers. Shouldn't cost much at all....Then get a good dyno tune after the heads/cam install...this will be your best, most cost effective solution...

Your 200$ will be well spent.

If your planing on buying your own softwear any way either do it now and delete the codes your self or just let them be for a little while and buy the softwear when you do heads and cam the codes wont hurt you just kind of annoying.

It's not just codes... the car will run rich with the installation of LTs. I COULD wait... but I am not putting my car back out on the road in the exact same condition it was when it was stored. I have an addiction to going faster, you see. It may actually take me longer than 3 months to save up for everything I need for the heads/cam package. I'd rather have some more performance when the car gets back on the road than be satisfied with the status quo. I also love working on my car, so installing an LS6 intake and LT's even though I'll have to take them off again is no big deal to me. I just installed shorties late last summer, so they gotta come off too. Sounds like I should go ahead with it then!
