Default Do I need a front gasket kit?

I have a 98 WS6 and I'm about ready to do a heads, cam, intake and exhaust swap. Will I need to get a front gasket kit for the timing chain cover, water pump etc?

Yes you will need it. The kit I bought came with the front cover gasket, front seal, water pump and something else I can't remember.

Good luck!

As Brad said, typically they sell them as one big kit...might have other gaskets in it that you don't necessarily need, but you'll have them if you need them.

if you are truely on a budget and money is tight, no you dont need it. but if you have a hundred or so bucks laying around, its worth it not to have to do it twice.

Your car is 9 years old get new gaskets.

My car has 21k on it and I just did the H/C swap you see in my sig. Gaskets were a must. My car is an 02.

I only got the front seal and water pump gaskets when i did mine. You might be able to get away with just those.

Get the gaskets better safe then sorry in my book. You would kick yourself if you got done started the car and it leaked out the timing cover or the water pump leaked, you would be making a lot more work for yourself. Do it right the first time!!

ok - and is this set needed only for the cam swap? If I do just heads intake pulley and exhaust, would I still need to get this stuff?

Still need head gaskets and may as well get intake port gaskets.

No the FAST intake does NOT come with gaskets. I'd suggest a new set for sure. The TB should come with a gasket though.

i would HIGHLY suggest removing the whole motor/trans out the bottom of the car. i did it when i did my swap (went from completely stock to a cam/bolton/stall setup) it makes it so much easier and you are less likely to break off a headbolt, which numerous people have done. its not that much extra work... you already ahve to disconnect pretty much everything from the motor. just pull the motor with the wiring harness, complete exhaust and then do your head/cam swap and everything else.

Why did you remove your heads for a cam swap?
