$300 to get it done. Purpose: To help reduce the amount of excess heat in the engine bay.
Think its worth it to get it done on a set of SS QTP LTs?

Contact Jet-Hot inquire if you sent them headers would you still be covered under their lifetime warrentee. I bought mine through them and I just recently got them recoated (these are LT1 headers.) They are worth it, Stainless is best for looks but for heat control you cannot beat Ceramic Coated.

Coated stainless headers are very popular in the GTO community. Anything that reduces under-hood temps is a good thing, even on stainless.
Btw $300 seems expensive. check with some of our sponsers, you should be able to get some headers coated for around $150. Or check with Jethot, and get them coated from them.
Definately worth it.

thanks guys... and the $300 was from Jet Hot, but from several years ago. I called them a whillle back and asked them the same thing and they quoted me $287. I wouldnt have to send them anywhere b/c they are w/in a few miles of where i'll be having them installed. So shipping isnt a problem.

Look at my above post, my hears were indeed crapping out, Stainless takes alot longer to rot out and when you recoat regular headers the process takes meterial away, at one point, depending how long you got between recoats, they headers will be junk.
Stainless just last longer.

ok, here's the deal:
- the coating is definitely beneficial, no one can argue that
- would i pay to get stainless steel headers coated? hell no. the way i see it, you already spent $700+ for headers, why pay another $275?
- if you're very well off and have money to burn, do it
basically, if you're like me and money isn't easy to find, save your money. if you're very well off and have a large disposable income, do it, you have nothing to lose since money isn't an issue.

You people telling me just to get some coated headers if i want coated are totally missing the point. I want stainless 1st and formost. I dont want to spend just $350 on a set of coated headers like pacesetters. My #1 thing is that they are stainless. Coated is option #2. I have noooooooooooooo interest in Pacesetters or anything of the sort. The quick/cheap power gains is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a set of headers thats going to last for a long time (SS). I was just wondering if getting them coated would be a benefit in any way.
Stainless is a must.
Coated is the option.

This is what i'm looking for. Results of tests. I figured SOMEONE has done some testing. I'll have to try to find that article.

Also might want to check with Kooks or QTP, they may be able to get the coating for less than you would pay separately.

Great question - I'm in the market for a set of stainless headers also because I want them to stay nice for a LONG time and plan on keeping my car indefintely - just paid it off!!!
Anyhow, for the price of approx $300 to get a coating applied, it doesn't sound like there's much to be gained performance wise. It's good to know that Jet Hot guarantees the coating for the lifetime, but I would be seriously bumming if I had to take them off the car, ship them, wait for the return, and reinstall them....
My 2 cents says it's probably not worth it.
