Default No oil pressure after cam install

I'm sure this has been asked before but the search isn't working and I don't have the time to look page through page. So I was wondering, what do you guys think it could be that has caused it to have no oil pressure? The car sounds fine when it's on but the gauge shows no pressure, it moves a little before the car is turned on. It was working fine before the cam install and we didn't swap out the intakes. Is there a possibility that it still could have broken? My car has around 130k and it's a 98 if that matters. I just don't want to drive it and mess up anything big if it's a big problem like bearings or other such things. Let me know what you guys think.

I would say you probably unhooked the sensor somehow.. or hit it.. or someone else did.

Double check.

Did you have to remove the oil pump for any reason? If so, you more than likely pinched the oil pump O-ring.

Im willing to bet you pinched the oring when re-installing the oil pickup tube. Verry easy to do, dont feel bad about it. There a few bucks from the dealer so its not that bad.

When the sender unit breaks the gauge pegs out to max.

You probably pinched the pump oring.

Not disagreeing that it happened to you that way, but I broke mine installing headers and it read 0. Definitely check the sending unit and harness. Don't know about F-Body but on a C5 its part of the oil filter assembly.

If he changed out the oil pump and timing chain when replacing the cam then I am also going to say o-ring on the pick up tube.

If you installed a double roller with the spacers beind the oil pump...it might be blocking the oil passage...dont ask me how I know

Haven't had time to check it out but I did install a double roller and we replaced the o-ring again so I don't think that would happen twice. How do you fix the problem if the plates from the timing chain are blocking the oil passage?

Badboy,
Does the hole in the shim/spacer line up with the outlet from the oil pump and the oil galley? Also, on the oil pump pickup tube o-ring, it is important to push the tube with the o-ring installed up to fully seat in the inlet of the oil pump. Then install the bolt with a bit of Locktite on the threads. Don't tighten this bolt very tight or you could strip the threads. You could also have the wrong size o-ring. There are two sizes, one is black and the other is blue as I recall.

Like everyone else said, if you dropped the o-ring or pinched it even slightly, you wouldnt be getting any oil pressure. Did you swap timing chains or oil pumps?

Heck who knows, you may have pinched the o-ring and placed the spacers on there incorrectly. It is possible to do both, believe me I know!

So it should be either or right, maybe a little of both? It wouldn't be the cam bearings like this other guy was telling me? That's what had me the most worried.

Naw that pump has come off 3 times and everytime it goes back up no oil pressure but also no knocking or **** sounding and the o ring is fine......Even put the stock pump on to see if maybe it was the pump but it wasnt, also every time the pump comes off there is oil in the pump so its obviously picking it up.....Im thinking something came loose on that oil sending unit...hopefully mike can get it done in the morning.
