i did 400rwhp/385rwtrq with a crane 220/224 .585/.585 114+4 and those heads. But i did use crane 1.8 rockers to achieve that lift, and get a little more out of the cam. i was disappointed with the heads hp performance. i suggest 224/228 .585/.585 112+2.

Why not use the comp XER lobes? 220/224 .581/.581 and save the cost of the 1.8 rockers?

car already had 1.8's on it, so i used a smaller lobe lift combined with larger ratio to achieve the net lift i wanted. .3241X1.8=583.

we had good results from it. we made 440+ rwhp and 400+rwtq from 3500 rpm with this cam + home ported 241s with bigger valves + stock 10:1 C/R .

You could have gotten over 400 rwhp cam-only. Breaking 400 rwhp with PP 243 heads milled to 61cc and a .040" gasket can almost be accomplished with the stock cam. Now you need to ask yourself the question, how much over 400 rwhp do I want? There's no free lunch as the additional overlap will take a potential toll on street manners, but you won't need lots duration to get there. What is the max lift that you are willing to run? Using anything better than PP Golds for springs?

awesome results prostock. i wish alot more people would try using crane stuff around here, i think it makes just as much power, if not more, but there profiles usually deliver alot stronger/flater/broader trq. curve than other competiors from what i see.

Nothing wrong with them. They just won't allow you to run LSK lobes, that's why I asked. You'd need the Patriot Extreme springs to run the LSK lobes.

Which are pretty much the same price.
It is a stronger spring, but is just as available, and as said similar in price.

228/228 would work well with those heads. Lift is HP, which is why Patrick is asking about your springs. Check Pat's sig to see how much you can do with a cam < 230*

Seems most have have decent spring life so far as long as they are setup properly.

I made 390rwhp cam only with a TR 230/224. So you should be well over that with 243's and a decent cam.

Silverbandit: without knowing what cam you're using, how did you know what size combustion chambers you need?

I was disappointed with the 243s. I'd recommend stepping up at least one notch, and going with a 224/228 (580s lift on a 112 +0). I made 418whp on Patriot's LS6 'style' heads, but I had issues with them leaking oil, so I swapped them for the 243s, and was mad I did.

IMO go with something like a PRC street or Patriot's higher end head, that with the 224/228 580s will make your car scream, and be totally drivable.
