The STS kits use Garrett turbos. I'd be cautious about buying a "cheap" turbo though...if anything, don't skimp on that part of your kit.

All the electronics and such that go with it though are quite the ordeal...I'd be weary about taking on that kind of task. Yes, it can be done but you're talking about spending some serious time putting everything together.

Also, ALWAYS plan on spending A LOT more $$$ than you think you're going to spend. Looking back, I'm kicking myself for thinking I could turbo my car for less than $5k... The worst part is, now that it's almost there, within a short period of time, I'll have to upgrade the clutch, brakes, tires, etc etc etc...it just keeps adding up !!

Yes, you can fabricate your own system. And any kind of system that you make/or have made, will obviously have to be for your car.
Since I dont know what your idea of what "cheap" is, how much of a budget are you working with?

1. what kind of wheels are those?

2. don't do fi if you are looking for cheap and easy, and 'a turbo' and 'other parts' are really not the hard part of the deal

Don't cut yourself close financially with an FI setup or you will always come up short. Just go with N2O if money is a concern

"turbo" and "cheap" don't belong in the same post.

Turbo + Cheap = car out of commission for 4 months while you save money to fix with parts you should've been using for the build all along

it not too hard to make a "cheap" turbo setup. take one T70 (on stock size engine). then go to a exhaust shop and get them to make the hot and cold tubing up for you. obviously a over to let them drive it and a few cans of beer will help with any worries of quality to! they should also beable to fab the weastgate and BOV stuff. then you will need an ally intercooler.

there are of course LOADS of other little bits and bobs, but you dont have to spend the earth!

So Midas and Fair Muffler do turbo systems? Do they include high quality crush bent pipes and ebay turbos?

you could probably use most of your stock exhaust system. cut it off at the muffler, fab the turbo in, run a splitter off that so you can keep the dual look. its possible, mabey not the most reliable setup, but doable for sure.
your not gonna gain a ton of power without experienced tunning, but you should pick up a bit.

if i have to explain to one more person why my turbo is under the hood and not in place of the muffler like they heard about on tv....
