Are these kits worth the cost. Does anyone know the gauge/thickness of the tubing? What should I look out for? Anyone running these tubing kits on their high hp set ups?

there is more than one setup on ebay and I know of one setup in particular that has seen good results, but that was just the IC and not the piping.
What size IC are you looking at?

My entire setup was built with Ebay piping kits and an Ebay Intercooler. No issues whatsoever.

Funny thing about the intercooler, there was some shop showing pictures of thier work with thier "huge" $600 intercooler here. It was the EXACT same one I have... only i paid $120 for it.

Intercoolers yes, piping...I wouldn't go there.

I did the piping myself. Yes it took longer and yes it cost more than I anticipated, but I still saved some money verses just buying the kit. I did mine with mild steel...had it all welded up and then I'm going to paint it tomorrow night. All you need are some various mandrel bends, a reciprical saw, patience, a tack welder and a few couplers/t-bolt clamps.

We attempted to install one customer's STS kit with his Ebay supplied front mount intercooler tubing. The tubing and silicone coonectors were a joke. You won't be happy with it.
We use the Ebay 24 x 12 x 4 intercoolers with our front mount kits. The intercoolers are surprisingly actually very good. We have a company that produces exhaust systems for Ford trucks make our mandrel bent 3.00" tubing. I happen to (luckily) know the owner of the company, otherwise they probably wouldn't do such small runs. We also use expensive silicone 4 and 5 ply couplers, and T Bolt clamps. Bob

funny the alum tubing i have is badass and polishs up great and holding fine.the couplers and clamps that come with it suck but the tubing was great.

I have a 32X 12 X 4" ebay intercooler...its amazing and for 180 you cant beat the price. Also i had the regular steel piping that i got with my turbo kit, and i ended up changing it around and going with one of the aluminum intercooler piping kits off ebay. It came with T bolt clamps and the silicone couplers. I have nothing but good things to say about the kit. I recommend looking at certain kits tho. I searched for a while untill i found something that looked really good....actually if you go on ebay just type in "camaro intercooler piping" and some very nice kits come up for 120 shipped with everything. Your diameter coice also.

From my experience, some of the ebay aluminum pipe is clear anodized to create that "polished" finish. It doesn't tig weld unless that finish is ground off at the weld joint, both on the outside and inside of the pipe, then cleaned throughly.

I have, however, found a good supplier on ebay, CXRacing, I believe, maybe others as well, that sells pipe kits that are semi-polished, and not anodized. This pipe welds great, with minimal clean time. It's also malleable if you need to hammer form (dent) to miss items such as the starter, suspenion, etc.. The pipe kits also include good t-bolt clamps and 3 or 4 ply reinforced silicon couplers. The clamps are good, I haven't tested the silicon couplers yet.

Thsi isn't meand as a plug for that particular company, jsut a warning that some of the ebay materials are MUCH better than others, and sometimes it's hard to tell by the small pictures on the listings.

Thanks for all the input guys.

As far as using the clamps and couplers, I really didnt plan on using them anyways. I also heard they werent the greatest. I did happen to find a nice intercooler kit made of 3" mild steel for $59.00. I might go that route. I just liked the aluminum because of the weight.

I'd stay with aluminum...the steel could rust if you don't paint it. It may not be that big of a deal in NM...but it's possible. Weight is a factor also...

The OBX intercoolers and tubing is fine, I wouldn't buy a turbo from ebay though. Especially the ss autochrome ones, they are ****.

Not sure what some people are talking about. The eBay aluminum tubing I used was cheap, welded just fine and is holding up great.
I never used their couplers though.

i got a friend who owns a shop here in the detroit area and they do mostly LS based stuff and a lot of forced induction and will be doing my procharger install and we were sitting down peacing together my setup and he mentioned that the aluminum tubing on ebay is fine as long as your not pushing to much boost and if your gonna get the ebay intercoolers to make sure its the plate and bar style and he told me the name of the company in california thats sells them but i forgot it.

bought the cxracing intercooler piping kit and it worked out great the couplers were 4ply nylon and 5 ply silicone the clamps could have been better but they do the job so no complaints here

My tubing was ok, welded easy but the 90* bends werent 90*, probably closer to 100 or so. Also some of the tubing wasnt perfectly round. All in all, was cheap enough to merit a bit of work.
