Default Is my transmission going out?

I realize this topic has been brought up but what are the first signs of a 4l60e starting to fail? I pulled into a convenience store today, turned the car off, got what I needed then when I started the car and put it in reverse it felt different. It felt as if it didn't want to go backwards then it did. I put it in Drive and it jumped and stalled a little then in second did the same. As I drove home it did not feel right. I gunned it a little on the highway and it revved high but did not pick up speed, after that the "service engine" light came on. What the hell is going on? Also it now takes three attempts to get the engine started, but I guess that's another forum. Please advise on the tranny issue.

I dont agree.. a professionally built 4l60e can last well into the 10's

notice i said professional... not some mom and pop do it all shop... and a good rebuild is gonna cost ALOT

First the 4L60E holds up well when built correctly I think theres another thread of people attesting to that going on now , Just so many people spend little money or goto the local shop and they die so they are called junk , It never ceases to amaze me someone will without hesitation spend 3000 even 4000 dollars on a turbo or super charger , Then have a cow about spending 1600 to 2500 on a trans to handle it ,Same thing with the rear end you here almost proudly someone saying I made so much power i broke my rear end or another guy I saw a while back was bragging he was having to spend XXX dollars to reinforce his body because of stress cracks caused because he was making so much power , But I dont know what it is about transmissions it seems they are supposed to come from the factory stock and be able to handle anything you dish out. lol

Anyway to the thread subject ,
since your having a starting problem and the trans feels funny while its true yo may have a trans issue I would get it scanned first and drive easy to have that done, Because you might be mistaking a car electrical problem for a transmission problem ,
One you get the codes post back up and we will try and see whats going ,

I guess it is a PCM problem. Just a little while ago I was on the freeway and the service engine light turned off and the trans ran just fine. I floored it and off I went. But now the damn light is on again and it's running like **** again. Off I go to the tuning forum.

Well, here are the codes given to me: P0131, P0137, P0151, P0157. The guy told me these are o2 sensor codes. Could this affect the transmission?

P0131 02 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank I Sensor I)
P0137 02 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank I Sensor 2)
P0151 02 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor I)
P0157 02 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

No the code wouldnt realte to the trans but multiple codes can point to PCM or power/ground problem . Also you may want to check the harness going to the trans which also has the wire for the o2 sensors and make sure it hasnt burned on the exhaust

yeah checked for f'd up wires or a pcm problem, would be odd that all the O2 sensors go out simultaneously.

Wires and connections are all good, fluid levels are fine. I guess I'll get the transmission diagnosed and see what they say. Thanks for all the input guys.

sounds like mine when right before it went out. It has something to do with the 2nd and reverse gears. mine clunked after a stop light then I just limped it home with out 2nd, OD and reverse does it make a "winding" sound when the engine is on but the tranny is in park?

Nope, no winding sounds. Sounds normal. This one is definitely a mystery. When the "service engine" light is off it shifts fine when it's on it shifts wrong. I think I have a bi-polar tranny, maybe I should seek a tranny psychologist.

Sounds like you need to find someone with a scan tool to watch the data stream so they can see in inner working of its mind gain understanding

Yeah, I'm gonna have to take it somewhere to someone who has more experience. I've checked everything I could with my limited expertise.
