Out of box VS ported L92s
I have been reading up a lot on the L92s and it seems to be a toss up between running the out of box's with aftermarket valves (unless the new ones you get have the better ones) and the ported/CNC L92s.
What is everyone's thoughts on this? The Livernois L92s had some awesome flow numbers but I haven't seen enough dyno/track proven numbers to justify spending the extra $900 or so. Anybody have the Livernois L92s or another set of L92s that they want to brag about?
If you had to run a ballpark figure, how much hp more are the Livernois worth than the out-of box L92s?

Personally I wouldnt want a head that goes from a 260cc to a 280cc runner. About the same cost I am having Greg Good port my heads. That is my .02 cents. I have seen plenty of folks make great power with smaller chambers and smaller intake runners.
Never been a fan of hogged out heads. Port velocity tends to die with them. But heck, I am just another LS1Tech know-it-all but really doesnt fella.

Not knocking ANYONE'S heads, but I wouldn't buy a set of ported ones until HP numbers are posted.
That is just me personally, I applaud everyone who is doing the trail blazing with these heads.
IMO I feel that we haven't even scratched the surface of what the stock intake ports on these heads will do.

I am with stangsbane on this one. I am just knocking bumbs off of the set I am doing now...a little off the guide area. The bowls/guide planes are almost perfect on the set I have so hardly any blending needed there and the short side radius is great on the intakes and exhausts. The cross section of the port is huge so I think the right cam is going to be the ticket.

IMO the flow numbers of the ported heads are great but I don't see anything but a custom intake keeping up with that flow. From the L92's I've seen they just need a little touch up work out of the box to get rid or some of the casting flash.
If I was gonna get any port work done it would only be on the exhaust ports. That's where the heads really need the help.

stock vs CNC
We got the cam swapped out in our "test donkey". Cam only dyno results tomorrow.
Next step will be the WCCH CNC L92s. Should give an idea of what JUST the difference between stock and CNC yield.
Should have head results Saturday. Monday at the latest. Stay tuned!!
