Default Heads and Cam combo..??

Since I live in California I was thinking of getting a 224/224 cam on a 114 LSA. What heads would u recommend to go with that cam? I was thinking of the AFR 205's...What do you guys think?

AFR 205s would be nice, match it with a Mamo ported 90/90 intake and you'd be pretty much set.

You could also look into some ETP heads, I don't know how well the 215s perform, but it's worth a look.

For a budget you could also look into TSP's PRC 5.3l heads.

Stout combo and should be smog friendly. PRC 5.3's are less money and will produce great results as well.

Will I get as much power out of the PRC heads than the AFR?

Close enough to say yes. With the new 200cc intake runner design I can see a direct parallel. The AFR is the better head and thats why it cost more but the PRC 200 cc runner 5.3 will put out damn good numbers and should do better(than previous with its 229 cc runner) in the velocity dept, which is where the AFR's shine. The AFR has its advantages but I dont think it will be under the curve so much given the runner size of the new prc 5.3

True test is at the track and AFR's are proven again and again but if you want to spend less then the new prc 5.3 is a damn good way to go.

AFR's are a premium head and you wont go wrong buy buying them.

PRC is great bargain and put out equivelant numbers to the more expensive aftermarket heads and are a great value. Same as Patriot

L92 heads won't fit on a 3.9 inch bore, they need at least a 4.00 inch bore. Ported LS6 heads are great bang for the buck, and is what I went with, but I can't afford the aftermarket castings really when I bought rims and other things.

If you can swing the AFR 205's I have seen some great results with those heads and that exact cam you already have. You can probably find some info on that combo in the dyno section.

Do you guys think i should install my own heads/cam? How much would labor cost if I had a shop do it? What power do you think I'll have at the wheels with the AFR heads and 224/224 cam?

Im an A4 and have tr224/112 cam and Tsp 5.3 heads and ported fast 90/90 and put down 410rwhp and 400ftlbs so far.The reason i say so far is cuz on the dyno my driveshaft crapped out and it was still climbing, but i just got off the phone with my shop and got my drive shaft back on so im gonna see if they squeezed more out of her.You can go to the dynamometer section and do a search on my thread "A4 Tr224/112 TSP stage 2.5 5.3 heads ported fast 90/90" to see my dyn graph on my last pull
got my car and it put down 417rwhp 407ft
