4.10's with automatics
just wondering whose done it and if they regret it or not. how bad did it kill the gas mileage when you added them and what rpm do you cruise at around 70 or 80mph?

i am turning like 3200 in OD at like 85 in OD in my 96 A4 lt1 WS6 formula, the rmp is kind of high but if your at 80 and punch it she downshifts to like 4600 and just goes, its great. I went 373 in my last formula a4 and i should have went 410s, The whole point of me going 373 was to keep highway rpm down compared to my WS6 but there was only a difference of maybe 300 rpm or so in OD, so in hind sight i would have jsut went 410 in my old formula as well. Traction becomes a real issue though

I have 410's on my auto '87 Z28 -- went from stock. My gas mileage has dropped, but I don't know how much is from the rear or the other things I did at the same time. You can see the mods in my sig -- I get about 9mpg when I play, about 13mpg with just normal driving.
I will tell you, the biggest changes I've felt are the whiplast when I hit second gear (feels like the car wants to stand up on the rear tires and spring forward through the air). When I'm highway driving doing about 80 and then floor it, you don't get that nice surge of power. Great for the track, short, fast sprints, but not so good for fast cruising.
At 80-85, I'm running about 2300-2500 rpms.

with 28" tires you will love it. I am running 4.11's in a moser 12 bolt and th-400. I am addicted to the sick launch and mostly play on 1/8 mile. It will make it through the 1/4 without running out of gear though.
