Default How to drain fuel?

I need to drain off almost 1/2 tank of gas - the Roadster Show REQUIRES 1/8th tank. Since I've never done this to a car with an in-tank monster pump with the return line & regulator, do I just uncork the line back by the filter, turn the key on & run it into a gas can? Or is there a different / better / safer method?

And no, driving the car burn it off to is NOT an option!

sounds like it will work. I got a lot out of that line when I changed my filter. But I didn't bleed off the pressure first either. So I layed in a pool of gas to change the filter.

Had one of my renters with a 15lb CO2 extinguisher right there until I finished.

you can do it up front Mark.take off your regulater line and route it to a gas can. then find the wire sticking out of the harness by the PCM and run power to it. this turns on the fuel relay and in turn the fuel pump

Okay, lemme rephrase that...

Any ideas on doing it without a working fuel pump and making it so you can still use the fuel tank afterwards.

When I had my towing buss, we used a 6' digging bar (round pointy end) and just banged the side of the tank, drains great.

Glad to help. And as I said earlier today, I don't think I've ever seen your car look better than it did today. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the props buddy! It's amazing how dirty it was. And how much different it looks after 2 weeks of cleaning. At least it's getting close to being ready. About all I have left is the interior, the glass & plastic trim. Then all I have to do is get it to the stadium without destroying all my work.

I shoulda bought an enclosed trailer....or at least built a shroud.

sounds like it will work. I got a lot out of that line when I changed my filter. But I didn't bleed off the pressure first either. So I layed in a pool of gas to change the filter.
That sounds like when I did my fuel filter also. I didn't think that thing was ever going to stop dumping fuel out! Good thing I like the smell of gas I guess!

Anyone happen to know address of the stadium? Its quest stadium isn't it? Can't remember the names over there.

Need to do a mapquest to make sure I don't get lost on the way over there. Leaving early Saturday and going to make it a day trip. Can't wait to see your car and some of the others!

It's just a little too fast. I'm sure being a Ford owner, this is an alien concept to you.
