My car won't stop pinging! I'm lost...
Once before I had some issues with the car pinging at high RPM, and a can of seafoam fixed my problems. Well, I'm in the same position again (9 months later), and my the sea foam didn't fix it this time.
I've also tried to wash the chambers/pistons with 2 quarts of water at 2500 RPM, and that didnt' seem to make any difference either. The motor has recent plugs in it, new wires, a newer fuel filter, etc. I'm not sure what has happened. I do drive the car rather sanely most of the time, and I don't know if this has allowed carbon build up.
If you have a suggestion, post away. I'm lost as to what could be going on. Current plans are to pull the plugs (and replace them w/ TR6 plugs) and spray some GM TEC / equivalent into the cylinders and let that work away at them.
I'm still not convinced that's the reason it's pinging. I haven't hooked a wideband up to it either, but I don't think it's going lean because the sea foam trick worked the last time it started doing this.
This is a stock LS1 motor with the basic bolt-ons.

Injectors at the end-of-rail position can be the first
to silt up, then you can get into single-cylinder-lean
problems. If you can get a scan tool on it and look
for misfires (current, cylinder mode) as high up as
that goes, maybe it will point you to a bad boy.
Cylinder mode drops out above the mid RPM range
(goes over to revolution mode and loses the cylinder
ID) but maybe there is something to see.

Can you hear the pinging or just see KR in the logs? As it was suggested, log and keep track of which cylinder is pinging. If theyre all coming from the same cylinder, its probably a dirty injector. Youll need a MAF to log this if i recall, as it didnt work for me while running SD. (in case you are)

I'm still running a MAFS. You can certainly hear the pinging. I wasn't aware that the engine management system was sensitive enought to say exactly which cylinder was pinging Guitsboy.

Also, the car didn't want to toggle between open/closed loop. That was really weird.
I tried to pick up some electrical parts cleaner to clean my MAF with, but I didn't find any at autozone. I'll try and pick some up from O' Reilly's.

My car used to ping when hot and WOT. Sea Foam did not help me. So my next steps went along with cam, headers, ... But I got rid of my PCV, and went to a cooler thermostat. The tune was probably the biggest help besides keeping oil out of the intake. I have since gone back to PCV with a catch can.
