Should I go 347, 383 or 408??
Is there any reason to go with a 383 over a 408? I was told by someone that I highly trust that a 408 would require much more supporting mods and more money when all is said and done. What do you all think?

why would a 408 need more supporting mods ? they will both need bigger injectors, both will need a 90/90 and your stock fuel system with an upgraded intank like the racetronix p-n-p should easily be enough.you will need a better rear than stock with either also. pretty much whatever a 408 requires upgrading the 383 will need also.trust me, you won't regret the extra power of a stroker.

I had the same question to answer for myself 2 years ago, when I decided to replace the stock block with a forged bottom end, since I had piston slap in the stock block.
So, do I go with 347, 383 or 408. After a week of thinking about it, I decided on the 383, by using the process of elimination:
I figured since I was already going ahead with swapping out the block, I might as well spend a little extra money for more cubes. So that eliminated the 347 option.
I felt if I stayed with the LS1 block configuration (383), the car would still be 'stock', or stock like, vs. installing an LS2 block.
So yeah, I left some cubes on the table, but since my car is a Firehawk, I'm very happy feeling the cars engine hasnt been completly gutted, and the car still still fairly standard - just better.
Dumb move on my part? maybe, but its the way I wanted my ride to be.
...my $0.02
